  1. Well, I'm back after falling off the path somewhat! Am back at home now, rather than at university, so with less distractions (less entertainment) getting in shape is a distraction from the boredom of small village life! So, what was the damage of my time away? I'm weak and chubby is the best way to describe it! Time to get back running and cycling in addition to using weights at home. I'll try and post up some photos soon to keep track of how I'm doing.
  2. Hi Robert, Things have been going slow. Exams and Coursework at uni have really pushed back my fitness plans. I have to admit to falling in a bit of a rut and not jumping out of it quickly enough. Did a 9km (5.5m) run on Monday easily enough, so my CV fitness hasn't fallen too much, but my muscle mass is disappearing faster than a plate of cookies in a pre-school! I'm spending 7 weeks out in Nevada this summer doing manual labour 4 days a week, so hopefully that will quick start me to begin afresh when I return to the UK.
  3. Beginning the jourey to South Africa in 10 minutes, so if nothing else I should at least return with a tan! Can anyone suggest (beginner) body weight exercises other than press up, plank, situp/crunch?
  4. Over 50 Loughborough Students were members of the GB Olympic team at Beijing 2008. http://sdc.lboro.ac.uk/smaller_images/studentsport.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_tgV3C-5NVFU/SKrZuLtKGtI/AAAAAAAABBI/oKDnxL3aW_4/s320/LiamTancock1.jpg I know I don't match up to these guys yet. But I have world class facilities around me, and I'll be making full use of them next term, and over the next 2 years in order to improve my strength and physique.
  5. Hello from a fellow new member! Good luck with meeting your goals!
  6. taken today Front Back Front Again Chicken legs to follow in the next post...
  7. These first two pics are from when I slimmed right down last year (2007-2008) and was pretty fit, though not very big at all. By the end of the summer, I'd got a little bigger. But then Uni hit. Pizza, late nights, beer, other alcohols and no exercise. Next post will some me now, after managing to shift some of the uni fat...
  8. Hey all, I'm a 21 year old veggie student, leaning toward veganism. I study at Loughborough, the top sports university in the country... however I'm a sociology major, and not sporty at all really. Last year I lost a lot of weight (from 180lbs to about 150lbs). This was waaaaaaaay too skinny, so i quickly went back to about 155lbs and felt pretty good about how i looked, but was still too weak, and too skinny. University took me back up to around 175lbs (pizza + beer weight), and i'm now 168lbs. Being at Loughborough I'm surrounded by guys (and girls) in much better shape than me. I want to get back to 175lbs, but of muscle, rather than pizza! Easter sees me head to South Africa, so gym time is going to be minimal, but i'll be trying to do whatever bodyweight stuff i can, as often as i can, and i'll be keeping active over there. I'll go head over to the logs page, but until then, this is my current state: Andy
