  1. I think I finally figured out photobucket (better late than never). Had to in order to be able to communicate with my choreographer for my fitness routine. Yep, I'm attempting Fitness this year, along with Bikini Classic (aka. Old Fart Bikini ). Fitness has the 2-piece round + the 2 minute routine with strength moves, dance...whatever you can manage, basically... Nothing mandatory in FAP (Fitness America Pageant), luckily. I have bruises all over from learning my routine up in Boston this weekend. Obviously these "routines" for some figure comps d/n require much choreographing b/c they are basically just for an "Aren't I so cute in my themewear?" round in addition to the physique/2-piece round, but since I managed to load them... Pool Shark (10/07): http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj53/hmm1219/show%20routines/?action=view&current=MOV01332.flv Elvis (7/07): http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj53/hmm1219/show%20routines/?action=view&current=MOV01032.flv Wish me luck with the new training!
  2. Hey, Yes, Boston's been sold out for a week or so. That's why I was mentioning Atlanta specifically.
  3. Just thought I'd pass this along to all of the gals out there who compete or who are contemplating competing (fitness, figure, model): Cathy Savage's Competition Prep Camp is coming to Atlanta for the first time Jan. 25-27, '08. It's not a workout-all-weekend camp, all aspects of competition are covered so you can see what it's about and decide what's right for you, learn what different federations look for, posing, makeup/hair...more... Nutrition and training too, of course! Check it out at www.cathysavagefitness.com, click on "camps". See you there!
  4. Aw shucks. You're not so bad yourself. Heads up--I'm most likely attending Chef Al's monthlong training next June, so expect to be pestered for assistance in helping me find a place to train, etc. for a month.
  5. Never, My Sistah! I'm busy, but not that busy. It's 11:15a EST Sat. 9/1 right now. I'm going to send you a note from my gmail account right now. Look for it and maybe we'll figure out why cyberspace is tragically keeping us apart. (That's just not right! )
  6. I was considering the Atlanta show as well!!! I've have been wanting to visit Atlanta and Savannah for some time, so thought I may as well get a comp in while I was down, Girl, where have you been?! I've PM'd, EM'd, everything-M'd you to talk about comps and such! No replies... I'm beginning to take it personally... Anyhow, get your sassy buns down here!!! We'll have a blast. FAP is new to me, but I know the SNBF situation VERY well. E'me with q's, and please do one of those shows. You'll have tons of support as my friends/teammates who aren't competing will be helping out with backstage stuff! If not one of these, get on www.snbf.com and check out the 2008 sked--they're adding a show in FL this year, and dates are set for the Atlanta ones (note--all the ones in GA are metro ATL locations, fyi). I'm bringing Camp Savage here too (I'll let you know the dates). Also, the SNBF is having their first pro/elite show in November and a bunch of us are going to scream for our coach (Valarie Brown-Stephens) and other pros "of note". Get in touch with me when you have a sec!
  7. 1 down (7/21, pics in photo section of forum) and 2 to go, FAP Dixie 9/22 and SNBF Atlanta 10/6. Then a well-deserved trip to Jamaica the next morning to show off my Protan!
  8. Thanks! I'll find any way to sneak in that protein right now. I find that protein powder quite versatile, and due to the amount of tofu I eat pre-comp, it helps cut down on the soy load too. Let me know what you think! I also posted a protein "sauce" I make with this powder. I pour it over veggies and it's delish! And another fetuccine recipe with it too. Check them out. Mixed into soups, purees, etc., it really works well too. Take care, stay well, Heather
  9. This is one of my current pre-comp staples. Cook brown rice and barley to desired consistency. (I like it mushy-sticky). Per 1/2C (cooked) serving, add a serving of unflavored protein powder. My fave for this is Naturade's Non-soy "Natural" flavor. Add plain non-dairy beverage (my fave: Silk's Plain Unsweetened) and stir it up to desired consistency, much like cooked oats. Add sea salt and pepper to taste. Other variations might include the addition of nutritional yeast for added cheesiness; chopped nuts; veggies; veg cheese shreds--whatever you want. Right now I need to keep it simple, but it's a nice change from oatmeal and sweet potatoes sometimes.
  10. Way to go, girl! Welcome to the "club"! (Which is a club of 2 of us now in the Vegan Figure Gals Club that I know of, LOL!) What show was this? (federation, name, and location) You do need more tan, but whatever you do, don't make the mistake your friend did and put the body tanner/stain on your face! You looked beautiful, congrats again! ~Heather
  11. Thanks for the ups everyone! I feel the love! My fave judge comment is always: "How are you doing this as a vegan?" That's assuming the announcer pronounced "vegan" correctly when reading my bio. I'm sure that isn't seen a lot at a bodybuilding show. The girls backstage are always like "How did you get your chicken into perfect squares?" when I'm nibbling on my tofu and asparagus too. I let them slide since they are all carb depleted and dehydrated.
  12. Okay, now that I'm an "expert" at this--hardy har har--here are some from my very first shows last year. Let me know if you see a difference between these and the ones above. These 3 are from my very, very first show 7/22/06. I lost about 50 lbs. to do this! It was fun. And addicting. My goal was to do a show before I was 40. I did this and the next one at 35. Need a new goal, LOL. [/img] [/img]
  13. Okay, that worked! Other than the hugeness, that is. Let me try some smaller... Okay, for this show I was Elvis (duh, right?). This show was a late decision. I had intended only to do 2 shows in the Fall, but my trainer wanted me to do a full diet cycle before the diet cycle for those. I told her I'd only be motivated to diet hard if there was a show on the line. So we aimed for this one, knowing I might not be "stage ready". I went ahead and prepped a theme, bought a used suit on line (since my custom ones for Fall wouldn't be available in time), and went for it. Hardest thing I've ever done. The diet nearly killed me However, I ended up looking better than I did at Nationals in 10/06, so we decided I'd do this show "for stage time" to get ready for Fall. I was up against some seriously lean mo-fo's in my height class. I was ranked last in swimwear, actually. Ouch. BUT, I am a major ham and have a lot of personality and rocked the stage with my posing, confidence, and the whole Elvis dealio, so I managed to squeak out 4th place among 7 in my class. Whew! Not bad considering I didn't get the "okay" from my trainer to hit the stage until 2 weeks prior. And she was iffy then. I was pushy about it just b/c I didn't want to pay the late registration fee. tee hee Anyhow, I'm all pumped up for Fall. FAP Dixie show on 9/15 where I'll do Ms. Bikini (versus figure), which is more about feminine muscle, poise, and beauty--less about symmetry and hardness. Then 10/6/07 I'll do SNBF Nationals, where again I'll be out of my element among the ripped girls, but I'll just have to lean out as much as possible between now and then, and really bring it with the theme to hopefully earn another top 5 placing. [/img] [/img] These 2 are some backstage photos taken after prejudging (aka. day show) and before the night show. My trainer wanted some after I ate something salty and fatty to help her strategize my show day diets in the future. I didn't question it--best friggin' veggie burger I'd ever eaten! [/img]
  14. This is my first attempt a posting a photo. Hopefully what will happen is a pic of me at my last comp (on 7/21/07) will come up! If successful, I'll put a few more on. Here I go ... http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/7593/heathercutepy1.jpg
  15. Terrific. I decided to hold off on showing in May and go to Jamaica to celebrate hubby's graduation instead! First comp now on 7/21. Training is great, diet going well. Yay me!
