  2. You should definitely try mixing it with soymilk or ricemilk for extra calories. Don't buy into all the hype about protein. You need only about 100 grams per day and as long as you're taking in enough calories you will grow! Believe it or not, people were still growing more naturally and healthier before these protein powders became popular. As vegans though, we need to consume a bit more, so I'd say have one when you wake up, and have two more during the day whenever you'd like. Be careful not to eat or drink anything except for a little water for at least 2 hours before you go to sleep!

  4. I'm new to the forum, and being vegan (only 1 and a half months now), but I figured I would share as much as I can with the community. I'm a writer, and currently working on an exploration of peace and violence. The words seem to be thrown around a lot in defense of the vegan philosophy, and it really interests me to see how many people have contemplated the issues deeply in of themselves. For instance, it's easy to say that being vegan is a peaceful stand against the violence that our world is bombarded with, but this doesn't seem to hold much ground when one thinks of the nature of things. Peace and violence define each other, in a similar fashion as being strong and weak are very relative terms. This doesn't seem to have any meaning in defining peace, other than saying it is simply the absence of violence. But then we are left to define what violence is. Acts, ideas, images, words - all can be violent, but what makes them violent? If war is violent, then surely the idea of war must be violent. Does violence lay dormant in our words and thoughts? Is it any less "real" if it isn't acted upon? Vegan food for thought.. -Mijo
  5. Day 1: Jump Rope 1200 times in 15 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes of hard running. Day 2: 4 x 20 push ups 4 x 10 single bar dips 4 x 10 Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press (40 lbs each hand) 4 x 10 Butterfly Machine (120 lbs) 4 x 10 Tricep push down machine (50 lbs) Day 3: 4 x 10 Close Grip Chins (15 lbs added with ankle weights) 4 x 10 Standing Dumbbell lateral raises (20 lbs) 4 x 10 Standing Dumbbell bicep curls (30 lbs) 4 x sets of burn out wide grip chins (usually 10, 10, 8, 6..) Can anyone give me some advice as to what I should change or add? I'm taking only 1 minutes rest between sets so each day takes only about 30-45 minutes and it's very hard. Whenever I get the 4 sets of 10 I'm adding weight and battling it for a few weeks until I am ready to add weight again. I think I'm hitting all muscle groups. 5'9" 140 lbs. Thanks so much! Any input is much appreciated! -Mijo (Mee-yoh)
