  1. Have an awesome Halloween everyone. As for my costume, I have to go with Tiger since I would look odd doing the whole Rocky "Eye of the Tiger" thing.
  2. Checking in again. I spent a week travelling in Asia where fruits and tasty pad thai were available. That, and plenty of walking in the markets... I measured myself today and was shocked when I found out I'm down to 175 lbs. I guess my metabolism hadn't slowed down that much over the years. Watching portions, eating fruits, and Asian foods seemed to be the ticket. Still don't have much muscle but if I can lose maybe 10 lbs of fat and then start adding some muscle, I'll be very pleased.
  3. I have lurked a bit, but I just realized I hadn't posted since my intro post. Anyways, I haven't been perfect with my training or eating, but I've been consciously avoiding fast food (lots of junk and lots of meat there too) since I joined. My current stats as of this morning were: 182 lbs (down from my starting point of 200 lbs). "Pants-o-meter": Had to give away old pair of jeans that were snug when I joined. The pair that replaced them I can now pull out at least an inch on the waist. I also have a pair of "goal" jeans that I was able pull up and button for the first time this morning. They are still not acceptable at my current weight since I'm not a fan of wearing skin tight jeans, but I'm guessing they may be a good fit when I go down another 10 lbs or so. So hey...not perfect but I'm making progress. I might eventually take some pictures for the site when I get down a bit more. Two more thoughts on this site: - Some of the posted transformations on here are really inspirational for lurkers. Congrats to everyone who has done so. - I'm still on the lookout for tasty tofu recipes...maybe with some variety in prep and mixing it up.
  4. Hi there. I somehow ended up finding this site when I was looking for ways to improve my condition. I'm hoping that I can improve with the insights and support of this community, and one day help others do the same. So here's the deal...I'm not a bodybuilder and I've eaten my share of meat in the past. However, I'm looking to get into better shape and eat more healthily. I've heard that a vegan lifestyle(along with the social implications of it) may be helpful with my goals. I'm a male in my 30s and about 5'11" and 200 lbs. Based on my experiences post-college desk jobs, beer, etc. caught up to me, I believe that if I can get to around 165-170 lbs with the majority of the lost weight being fat..I will be in much better shape. So, that's my goal. Beyond just saying hello to everyone , I would love to hear from some of you who have had success with weight loss and what real vegan food(ideally, instead of shakes and stuff) meals/recipes you have successfully used to get in shape. Beans, tofu, veggies, fruits, you name it. I'm guessing there are some experts on here. Anyways, I hope to see you around!
