  1. Another bloody Aussie, from the Blue Mountains. Only vegan for 16 months but sooooo much healthier and fitter.
  2. If so, how do you get field peas to sprout properly?
  3. You can replace animal protein with plant protein quite easily by substituting soy, legumes and the occasional small serve of nuts. I dont know if you weigh and measure but the nutritional data is readily available. The sooner you give up dairy the better. Get John MacDougall's podcast here; http://www.drmcdougall.com/store_electures.html 3/4 down the page "Marketing Milk and Disease". Dont feel like you have to replace it with anything, it was never doing you any good in the first place. I have seen amazing things happen when people give up dairy. I dont know enough about whole grain carbs in a body building / high performance diet (Im here to learn) but bear in mind that even the leanest meat will have more fat (and therefore calories) than most plant foods. By ceasing meat you automatically lower your fat intake and therefore will be able to tolerate more carbs. I dont understand the bias against fruit as fruits contain high levels of vitamins, water and fibre and are usually low GI in the same way whole grains are.
  4. Great video, thanks. I actually think it critical that the science and emotion get separated. The PETA website virtually encourages junk food eating and will turn plant based eating into a political event with no appreciable health improvement outcomes. If information isnt properly referenced I no longer pass it on. A couple of the influences for me have been The China Study, T. Colin Campbell, Skinny Bastards http://www.skinnybastard.net/ and Dr. John MacDougall. Hans Diehl is another science based guru of mine.
  5. Hi everyone, Im Sebastiaan, 50ish father from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney Australia. Ive only recently returned to Vegan eating after bouts of ominvore lifestyle. Im also recovering fitness after a broken ankle and a rather severe bout of shingles. My goals are to complete the City to Surf this year ( http://www.city2surf.com.au/ ) and to get off the medication I am on for blood pressure. I work with a personal trainer (also a vegan . I am a graduate of T. Colin Campbell's Plant Based Nutrition Certificate. I have dropped 30kg and am looking for another 5-10kg loss. There is sooo much to learn about fitness which is why I have joined this forum. I look forward to learning!
