  1. I definitely feel the same way. No sleep or a strange schedule means that my lifting suffers a whole bunch. I'm also stepping up my hours at work to get a promotion which means they're going to start making me work really strange hours. Lifting is definitely going to come second! But once this is over hopefully I'll be back to normal.
  2. I feel like crap when I don't sleep enough and my lifting seems to be suffering as a result. I only feel rested if I sleep for 8-9 hours a night! Does anyone else have this problem?

    Hello World!

Nice to see you on the boards Damien! It's good to see fellow vegan geeks who are into lifting!

Chicago really is the best city in the world. And has much better Vegan options than Missouri to be certain.
  7. I use the smith to do squats and it's helped me not only with form but also with my confidence in hitting higher weights. I generally go down to about a 35-40 degree bend in my knees before I go back up and it makes my legs all wobbly so I'm assuming it works.

Go to Spinning.com. It's indoor cycling.

K: I mean that I am certified and able to teach Spinning classes. R: Thanks! I would definitely recommend spinning to take off weight (and water weight) pre-contest. It's easy on the joints too!
  10. It's hard for me to gain weight too. I've been working out for about 6 months and gained 25lbs, but it's been a long journey. Simply, eat a lot. I eat all day long, from early morning to late night. I find that eating a loaf of ezekiel bread, a package of soy dogs, three protein shakes/smoothies and a box of cereal usually does me right. Don't forget to eat fruits and veggies though! I work at a grocery store so whenever I'm hungry I just grab an apple or a banana and eat eat eat.

Well I'm glad to be here and I'd be happy to be the spinning doctor! There is nothing I like quite as much as sitting on a bike cranking to some loud jams. Or feeling the wobble on my sixth set of arnold presses.... PS. I am also a JGSI certified instructor.
  12. Hey y'all, It's totally AWESOME to see a Vegan forum dedicated to bodybuilding. I'm 5'6" and 150lbs (as of 07/16/05) and have been lifting weights for about 6 months. Prior to that I did spinning classes 5-15 times a week depending on my training cycle. I have been Vegan for eight years and am really looking forward to getting and giving some awesome information here!
