  1. Well depends on what you think you need. I suppose sometimes this is true. Hey Jay, I guess everything comes down to our belief/faith system and perception, which may or may not be based on our historical reality. But I think we’re all looking for happiness or for true meaning while being continually inundated with the “right” paths to these goals. If I can generalize, for me anyway, the “right” path is receding from those paths existing in the “external” environment and gravitating toward those paths “within” People talk about meditation, inner awareness, the higher inner-self, communication with the soul, etc,…those sorts of ideas. That is all good and fine but I also realize that we exist in the “world” to the extent that we allow ourselves to be imprisoned in the “maya” that is so much of this “world”. I put the “world” in quotation marks because I believe it to be a state of awareness or consciousness. It isn’t real and our “sciences” are slowly coming to this conclusion. Quantum physics, physiology, pshychology (off the top of my head) are struggling with trying to explain things that just don’t make sense using our old agreed upon theories. Essentially we are prisoners of our brain’s limited sensitivity to what is existing around and within us. As Nick Herbert in “Quantum Reality” says: We can’t directly experience the true texture of reality, Because everything we touch turns to matter.” So, when I say that we have all that we require to make us happy, it stems from my belief/faith that our power is generated from within and is at the same time with-all (holographic nature of the universe). In the simplest terms this comes down to the fact that we alone decide on how we are going to perceive and react to any given situation. But this can be in large part determined by our own needs and wants, our desires, beliefs, etc. Many people get hung up on thinking that what we need and what we want are the same thing. For me, the farther along the path to the inner higher self I am, the more I am able to differentiate between things I want and things I need. Maya creates and dictates wants. Our human forms which are really nothing more than “a collapse of a wave function into a particle” ( obviously m(b)illions of particles in our physical body) has needs. It requires energy to sustain itself. So, I agree with you, your happiness is very much dependent on what you think you need. I'm sorry I don't believe this. This remark is more a reflection of surrender for me. I used to worry about quite a lot and I used to fight to the bitter end to attain the outcome that I thought I needed. I began to understand that I was confusing need with want. My maya-driven ego wants and tells me that I need. So there is the worry created by not attaining that which you think you need. I believe now that if you have done everything in your power to attain something, reach a goal, etc., and you do not, then it was not meant to be. That is not to say, that if you are an athelete and you do not get first but second, that you should give up. For me, it is accepting that it was simply not to be. It’s also like worrying about a test grade after you wrote the test. The mark is, and no degree of worry will change it. Or worrying about whether buying a certain house was the right move or not. It is or it isn’t, it simply is and worry will not change the outcome. Expending energy and stressing the body in the form of worry is a terrible thing to do to ourselves. We can only do what we can do. The other reason not to worry is a very scientific one. Werner Heisenberg (quantum physicist) “divides the universe into real and semi-real. He considers the elementary particles to be only potentialities or possibilities. They are made real only by the act of observation. Heisenberg’s world of potentia contains all of the possibilities of any action. In the past following the rules of Newtonian physics, we like to think of a straightforward action and reaction. If we pay attention to quantum rules however any action has the possibility of a multitude of reactions. In the not real world of potentia, all of the reactions are present. Only one of these possibilities manifests in the real world. This possibility is made solid (physically apparent) only by consciousness. We must not forget at this point that any action also involves a very large number of conscious entities. We may sometimes believe that we make decisions and act on our own, but this is seldom true. The people, plants, animals and all things that are considered as part of the action, will have input into the degree of control of the action and reaction. This depends on each entities ability to phase quantum waves of possibility so that they add amplitudes enough to make them apparent in our physical world. Heisenberg discovered that the imprecision that is always present during experiments to discover the momentum and position of a particle, has the inverse relationship that we have talked about (Heisenberg uncertainty principle). Also that this relationship is true in every immaginable experiment involving the simultaneous measurement of pairs of particles from the same source. This uncertainty principal is a challenge to causality. In our scientific studies we have been taught (in the past) that every effect is preceded by a unique cause. The quantum uncertainty will not allow a prediction of an event in the future. In classical physics, if we know the present in every detail, we can calculate the future. This is true only for uncomplicated things. It doesn’t work that way in quantum physics. Any action can have an infinite number of reactions”. So, why worry. You do what you can at this moment in time and the rest will simply be. I don't understand. My comment here is based on my spiritual beliefs (we are all one and part of the infinite divine) as well as being clearly articulated by David Bohm (physicist). In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris, a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. You did not hear about it on the evening news. In fact, unless you are in the habit of reading scientific journals you probably have never even heard Aspect's name, though there are some who believe his discovery may change the face of science. Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn't matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart. Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein's long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since travelling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect's findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations. University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect's findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram. To understand why Bohm makes this startling assertion, one must first understand a little about holograms. A hologram is a three-dimensional photograph made with the aid of a laser. Holograms To make a hologram, the object to be photographed is first bathed in the light of a laser beam. Then a second laser beam is bounced off the reflected light of the first and the resulting interference pattern(the area where the two laser beams commingle) is captured on film. When the film is developed, it looks like a meaningless swirl of light and dark lines. But as soon as the developed film is illuminated by another laser beam, a three-dimensional image of the original object appears. The three-dimensionality of such images is not the only remarkable characteristic of holograms. If a hologram of a rose is cut in half and then illuminated by a laser, each half will still be found to contain the entire image of the rose. Indeed, even if the halves are divided again, each snippet of film will always be found to contain a smaller but intact version of the original image. Unlike normal photographs, every part of a hologram contains all the information possessed by the whole. The "whole in every part" nature of a hologram provides us with an entirely new way of understanding organization and order. For most of its history, Western science has laboured under the bias that the best way to understand a physical phenomenon, whether a frog or an atom, is to dissect it and study its respective parts. A hologram teaches us that some things in the universe may not lend themselves to this approach. If we try to take apart some thing constructed holographically, we will not get the pieces of which it is made, we will only get smaller wholes. This insight suggested to Bohm another way of understanding Aspect's discovery. Bohm believes the reason subatomic particles are able to remain in contact with one another regardless of the distance separating them is not because they are sending some sort of mysterious signal back and forth, but because their separateness is an illusion. He argues that at some deeper level of reality such particles are not individual entities, but are actually extensions of the same fundamental something. For me, this translates well into my faith (more eastern than western) in the idea that we have souls and they are “smaller parts” or holographic projections of the infinite divine being. Therefore we contain/are infinite divine being. I was raised as a roman catholic and these ideas are also prevalent in that religion. I appreciate this but don't really understand. Again, this is a reflection of my spiritual beliefs (including the “ask you shall receive” ideas in roman catholicism) that seem in tune with “scientific” theory. The physical Universe as we know is an illusion – a function of time dimension which makes it seem real but actually is virtual or unreal. Quantum physics predicts the existence of an underlying sea of zero-point energy at every point in the universe. This is different from the cosmic microwave background and is also referred to as the electromagnetic quantum vacuum since it is the lowest state of otherwise empty space. This energy is so enormous that most physicists believe that even though zero-point energy seems to be an inescapable consequence of elementary quantum theory. It is real energy which we cannot directly sense since it is the same everywhere, even inside our bodies and measuring devices. From this perspective, the ordinary world of matter and energy is like foam atop the quantum vacuum sea. The physical Universe is the temporary illusion. What is real behind all these is the essence of indestructible life as a part of integrated consciousness – the singularity. There is a force associated with the electromagnetic quantum vacuum: the Casimir force. This force is an attraction between parallel metallic plates that has now been well measured and can be attributed to a minutely tiny imbalance in the zero-point energy in the cavity between versus the region outside the plates. This is the essence of Zero Point Energy. All energy in the Physical and other Universes and the Hyperspace exists in the form of Zero Point Energy (ZPE). Other forms of energy are really illusions in the Physical Universe. Eventually it is the manifestation of the ZPE. Quantum physics predicts that all of space must be filled with electromagnetic zero-point fluctuations (also called the zero-point field) creating a universal sea of zero-point energy. The density of this energy depends critically on where in frequency the zero-point fluctuations cease. Since space itself is thought to break up into a kind of quantum foam at a tiny distance scale called the Planck scale (10-33 cm), it is argued that the zero point fluctuations must cease at a corresponding Planck frequency (1043 Hz). If that were the case, the zero-point energy density would be 110 orders of magnitude greater than the radiant energy at the center of the Sun. The Field tells the story of a group of frontier scientists who discovered that the Zero Point Field - an ocean of subatomic vibrations in the space between things - connects everything in the universe, much like the Force in Star Wars. The Field offers a radically new view of the way our world and our bodies work. The human mind and body are not distinct and separate from their environment, but a packet of pulsating energy constantly interacting with this vast energy sea. The Field creates a picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory which makes sense of ’supernatural ‘phenomena. A bit like finding there is such a thing as ‘The Force in Star Wars’. The Field tells the story of respected frontier scientists all over the globe who have produced extraordinary evidence to show that an energy field -The Zero Point Field - connects everything in the universe, and we ourselves are part of this vast dynamic cobweb of energy exchange. The Field also reveals a radical new biological paradigm-that on our most fundamental level, the human mind and body are not distinct and separate from their environment, but a packet of pulsating energy constantly interacting with this vast energy sea. Out of the Mystery and into the Realm of Hard Science Here in so-called ‘dead’ space may lay the key to many of life’s processes, from how cells communicate to how organisms actually take shape. The field is responsible for our mind’s highest functions - our memory, intuition, creativity. It is the force that finally determines whether we are healthy or ill, the force which must be tapped in order to heal. Original, and well documented with distinguished sources, The Field lifts many areas out of the realm of mystery and into the realm of hard science The Field creates a picture of an interconnected universe and a new scientific theory which makes sense of supernatural phenomena. It offers a scientific explanation for many of the most profound human mysteries, from alternative medicine and spiritual healing to extra sensory perception and the collective unconscious. It could even answer some of the big questions: what is human consciousness and what happens when we die. The Field follows the life and work of physicists who seem to be on the verge of bringing about the same type of revolution that occurred exactly a century ago when quantum theory changed the face of physics forever. "Infecting the Quantum field by starting the day with an intention of what you want to create (experience). Is this similar or aligned with a primary? A primary is single specific of what you want to create. Where as the method of how he creates his day seems less specific. Are doing affirmations similar? Does all this contribute to infecting the quantum field?" What is the Quantum Field? The quantum field is basically the sum of all waves of possibilities. Everthing consists of energy and therefore produces a wave. All these waves together interfere with each other and create new combinations of waves. Sometimes particular waves increase in their amplitude (getting bigger) and sometimes waves completely dissapear. Therefore yes, everything contributes to infecting the quantum field. Actually, there is nothing you can do, not to influence it. Every thought, every feeling and every action has its effect in the quantum field. What Are Affirmations? Affirmations are frequently repeated spoken words. For example I say to myself every day "I am healthy and fit". What effect does this have on the quantum field? I think the result depends on the state of consciousness. Imagine you are standing on a lake and there is no wind or any other influence whatsoever. If you observe the surface of the lake you will see it absoluely calm. Then through in a small stone and you will see the waves it creates. If you look closely you could see the waves spreading out over the complete lake. Now imagine that the lake is filled with hundreds of boats, there is wind and you through the same stone into it. Can you even recognize the ripple it makes? Probably the same is going on in your consciousness. If you have too many thoughts, feelings and other things going on the extra little wave you create will immediately dissapear. What is a Creation? In quantum physics terms a creation is the collape of a wave function into a particle. Out of infinite possibilities you are focusing on one single wave and this wave is collapsing into a particle and appears therefore in space and time. Consciousness creates a subject and a object at the same time. It is the birth of duality. As you can see on one level you create and on the other level you just observe something that was always present as a possibility. However, the domain in which you create depends again on the state of consciousness you are in. What is Attention, Intention & Focus? Attention roots in the greek word ‘attendere’ which means torwards something. You could compare this to a radio. You tune in on one channel, on one frequency. There are all frequencies similtantiously present, but using your attention selects one frequency out of many. In quantum physics attention is the observer! That means your attention already collapses the wave function of possibilities and creates reality. Intention refers to one’s motivation; it in no way implies force, or involving your will in the outcome. Two important variables are attention and attitude. Focus refers to be fully engaging in the present moment. The ability to observe without attachment contributes to the outcome. In quantum physics, we know nothing happens that isn’t first observed. From my experience I would say intention works best when it comes from a natural place. What do I mean by that? A natural place would be a unique quality or gift you have. It is something that interests you without forcing yourself. So focusing your intention on what you can do with your gift would work far better then focusing on getting rich. There is nothing wrong with getting rich of course, but for most of us this intention would come more from fear and not having enough. Therefore, it would be driven by force and not by power. Power is natural, force is artificial. Power is always there, force needs to be created constantly to be effective. Best explained in the book ‘Power vs. Force‘ from David Hawkins. I wanted to try to address your issues with more scientific discussion as spiritual beliefs and religion can get bogged down relatively quickly. When I earnestly began my search for truth/spirituality I struggled because I was raised as a roman catholic and I have difficulty with the doctrines of not only that religion but many other organized religions. I lacked faith because of the way the message was packaged rather than the truth behind the message, but nonetheless, it made it very difficult to foster a healthy faith. To be perfectly honest I was forced into faith because I ran out energy and options. I realized that I "couldn't do it by myself anymore". You hit rock bottom and there's no other option but up. I wanted to have faith but I wanted proof first And when western science started paralleling what I was reading of eastern sages I began to develop faith. And then faith began to turn into reality and now reality feeds faith. The world we live in is sick. We can attempt (mostly unsuccessful) to pretend otherwise. But I really don't think it's anything other than pretending. If we're reduced to just being grateful to be alive, we're setting our expectations absurdly low. I suppose doing so is similar to a movie I'm watching right now, My Life as a Dog. In it, the boy compares his situation with those of people who have it far worse. I do the same all the time myself so, sure I can be happy for a while knowing I"m not in poverty in a country that has a life expectancy in the 30's for example. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Is the world we live in sick? I think it simply is. Sick is a judgement we make about our very subjective observations of a drama that we have created. I think we're pretending when we "see" the world as being our objective reality. I think we need to be more aware of our own subjectivity especially when we pretend that we know better or are better than others. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have endless creative ways to be happy but I've never bothered to list them and I ought to because each day can take a different approach and some days are lost while I can't find the right approach. Ohter approaches: live for the moment, simply retreat into fantasy as much as possible.... ------------------------------------------------------------- Much to be gained by living in the moment given that that is really the only moment when you can....... ------------------------------------------------------------- What would you think if I told you we were already spend all our time living in a fantasy? --------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, yeah raVen, you can't really pretend like that..... not very well anyway.... We live in a world where humans and animals are thought of as objects. As a human in order to survive you must sell yourself as if you are a commodity. Your feelings, your ability to feel pain, etc are of no concern. You are objectified. Also the pain, etc of billions of animals is of no concern. They are objectified. Objectification of humans is called capitalism and it's almost universally accepted. Objectification of animals is almost universally accepted.
  2. Sorry to hear that Richard. I would suggest you take time to gently massage the area daily.

    Hello

lifting weights is all about mind over metal. if you master your mind, there's nothing in this world that you can't do. You got that right drummer boy. Welcome........
  4. Ya, I know how you feel about carrying stuff around. I'm like the "bag man," I carry a plastic grocery bag with me everywhere I go. I'm not sure what the total amount of protein our bodies can handle in one sitting is, for some reason I thought it was around 40 grams or so. So in my thinking I want to keep all my intake at less than 30 grms and spread it throughout the day. I take 5 grms of creatine before and 5 after a w/o. Hell, I even split my monster vegi one a days in two because most people say you end up peeing the stuff out because it's too much at once. As for the creatine/protein mix, I don't think it matters, they're different substances. I take the L-glut before bed like they say on the pack but I also take it right after a w/o as well. I guess in short, I'm trying to say spread things out as much as possible throughout the day so it's a constant stream of goodies rather than all at once. Just like diet and anything else.
  5. Actually I think that would be pretty cool to be able to change our skin colour or "wear" stripes or dots or whatever we wanted.
  6. Hey offense74.....passin it along.... Best of luck against the Russians in hockey........should be you guys in the gold medal game.
  7. other 2 in the Cdn 4X100 was Rob Esmie and Glenroy Gilbert. But as I understand you guys have the latest 4X100 speed demons, well at least in 2004 -----Gardener/Campbell/Devonish/Lewis-Francis. I love watching the olympic running events........can't wait.
  8. Hi VirgoKitten, Welcome aboard.
  9. Wow, that's large johnathan!!! As for your bench being crap, well I guess it's all perception. I wish I could bench what you're benching. Actually I'm struggling in that area as well. I'm tricep pressing almost as much as I'm benching?? Anyway, nicely done.
  10. I can't recall the names of the other 2 guys. I'll see if I can find them. Ben Johnson isn't doing much as far as I know. It's too bad the doping has infiltrated sport. I can still remember the day he won that medal. Hey Tarz, I was a hurdler as well! I ran the 100m and the 400m. Damn I wish I could recall my times. I held the record for the 400m here in southern Ontario for a short while. That was pretty cool. My younger sister was really fast and they wanted her to try out for the canadian junior olympic team but she just ran for the love of it. She didn't want all the other stress that comes with trials etc. I'm going to work on getting my daughter to think about track and field.
  11. I don't see a problem here to be very honest. I agree with everyone else who has said your arms look great. But I also understand that we are all our own worst critics. The dips that Jay was talking about can be done with two chairs facing each other. Your feet up on one and your hands supporting your weight on the other. Hmm....difficult to describe. But basically you are bending at the elbows and allowing your bodyweight to come down so that your arms are at a 90 degree angle and then pushing back up. Or you can do the exercices you described, or you can do the pushups. But the thing to remember is that to build mass you have to keep increasing the weight to keep challenging the muscle to grow. Find a weight or exercise that you can only do for 6-8 reps to start. Do it until you can do it 8-12 times then up the weight so that you can only do it for 6-8 reps. Work with it until you can do it 8-12 times then up the weight again. And yes, just do it
  12. No more track and field for me although every time I pass by a track in a school yard or university I get that "thing" in my stomach just before I race. I love running fast and I go nuts every time I end up on a beach somewhere. Doing sprints until I can't do them anymore. I used to get shin splints when I ran long distance or on the road. I guess bad shoes or bad form or both. My favourite sprint now is against my 7-year old daughter. Damn she is fast!! She even lets me win every once in a while. Bless her little heart
  13. Actually I heard that is was some doctor in the US that had devised some kind of "field generator" or something like that that would destroy the cancer cells. The American Cancer association said it wanted to test the technology as it was not deemed "safe" and that was the last of the technology. It supposedly covered up the technology because cancer is a HUGE money making business around the wrold. Is it true, I'm not sure. Is it possible that a large health organization would consider doing something like that to protect its income and position.....absolutely. I mean governments are supposed to protect its people as well aren't they? If you do find something on this CG I would be interested in hearing about it.
