  1. I can't wait to see your next progress pics. I'm sure you'll be on the front page before long! Thanks for sharing. I have really learned a lot from reading your posts.
  2. Wow, Troy! Your progress is amazing and inspiring! I look forward to seeing your next pics!
  3. Thanks for the compliments! These are the exercises I'm doing currently. The number of sets/reps vary and I always try to increase the weight or number of reps with each workout. Sometimes there are several days in between workouts. My goal is to be more consistent and not have more than 2-3 days in between. Workout 1: BENCH PRESS OR PUSHUPS SHOULDER PRESS TRICEPS EXTENSION Workout 2: SQUAT DEAD LIFT STANDING LEG CURL CRUNCHES Workout 3: SHRUGS BENT-OVER ROWS DB CURLS BB CURLS HAMMER CURLS/REVERSE CURLS DB WRIST CURLS
  4. I'm getting stronger but don't know if I'm getting bigger yet. I'll keep working on it! -Sean http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii71/swanson2000/me008.jpg
  5. I know something is different! Okay, I'll keep working at it... http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii71/swanson2000/me001.jpg http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii71/swanson2000/me002.jpg
  6. Here's a recipe I came up with that I really enjoy. If you do it right, it's almost like soft-serve ice cream. You should experiment to find the combination that works best for you. 1. Peel and slice one medium to large banana and freeze overnight. 2. Pour 8 ounces of almond milk into a blender. 3. Add 2 tablespoons of hemp powder. 4. Add the frozen banana slices. 5. Add about 5 ounces of mixed berries. I like a mix of strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. The berries should be really really cold or partially frozen. 6. Mix it up with a spoon. 7. Blend on low speed. You may have to start and stop a few times and stir it up with a spoon in between. With practice, it's really quick and easy. 8. Pour into a glass and drink up! Or eat it with a spoon if it's thick enough. -Sean
  7. Thanks for your support and encouragement. Thanks, Steve, for the compliment. And to Robert and Melissa: You look awesome! I think I would look better if I had a tan like yours. And muscle too, of course! Maybe I'll turn off the flash for my next photo...
  8. Here's my first photos. I'm about 145 lbs @ 15% bodyfat. I'm eating a lot more these days, just gotta keep up with the workouts! I'm looking forward to posting some better looking photos in the near future. -Sean http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/2678/0000007rd0.th.jpg http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/1553/0000008ms8.th.jpg http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3526/0000005xm7.th.jpg
  9. I quit the gym due to time and budget constraints. I'll be training in my apartment and hope to bring in some decent equipment soon. The guys at MetroFlex were great. Huge guys working out there. Even the girls are much bigger than I am. Maybe I'll get a chance to hire a personal trainer sometime in the future. Thanks everyone for your support! -Sean
  10. Thanks everyone for your input! I'm going to make this a top priority and find a way to go at least twice a week. I will monitor my progress and make adjustments as needed. I'm not in any hurry to gain as long as I see progress. A lot of "small" guys think my goal of gaining 50 lbs is next to impossible. However, I know some serious bodybuilders (I mean, really HUGE guys) who tell me I could put on that much weight in less than a year. I have seen a few guys who are about the same height (I am 6'0") who are very muscular at 190 with low body fat. They are much smaller than the people I see working out at MetroFlex Gym. So I think my goal of gaining 50 lbs within four years is not at all unrealistic. My top weight ever was about 160, but that was about 30 extra pounds of fat. I've never weighed more than 140 when I was in good shape. I will be very happy to pass the 150 mark with Vegan Muscle and prove to all the meat eaters out there that it CAN be done! -Sean
  11. Monday - Friday: work, study, eat, sleep Saturday: workout! Sunday: rest, visit family Has anyone ever tried it? I thought about cancelling my gym membership due to my busy schedule and lack of focus on my training days. My Saturdays are generally free so I would be much better prepared to go to the gym and get serious about my workout. I often visit family on Sundays and it pretty much takes up all day so with work and school, I have very little time right now. I'm not in a big hurry to make size/strength gains. I just want to make sure I am making steady progress. If you have ever tried a one-day-per-week program or know someone who has, please share your thoughts/ideas.... -Sean
  12. Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your help! I am new to bodybuilding and I want to make sure I'm getting enough nutrition to build muscle on a $13.00 USD/day budget. I am 39 yrs old, 6'0" tall, and weighed in at 128 lbs June 10th, 2007. I did an analysis of my diet and discovered I was consuming about 1400 calories per day when I should have been getting 2100 just to maintain my current weight. I immediately doubled my calories to 2800 and I am trying to get a good balance of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. After eating more each day and going to the gym about twice per week, I am up to 134 lbs. My biceps (flexed) were 10 3/4" on June 10th. Now they are 11 1/8" flexed! I am excited to be making progress and I am researching exercise routines for my current fitness level and schedule. My current budget is maxed out at $13/day for food. If you have ideas for a sample meal plan, please share. Thank you! -Sean
  13. I want to look like Topher (except without the beard maybe). http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/4995/tntopher9zx7.jpg
  14. Just a quick intro: My name is Sean and I currently live in Arlington, Texas, USA. I have family in Washington state and plan to move there when my 15-yr-old son, Marc, graduates from high school. I am 6'0" tall, 39 years of age, and I weighed in at 128 lbs. on June 10th. I just joined MetroFlex Gym in Arlington (where Ronnie Coleman trains) last week. I have doubled my calorie intake and have completed 3 workouts so far. I am up to 133 lbs. and have gained 1/4" in my arms. I would like to gain about 50 lbs. of muscle so I don't disappear when I turn sideways. (That's me in the photo taken last summer on Ram Island.) I have been reading many posts over the last few days and decided to join the forum for a little support and encouragement. After searching the Internet for hours looking for more info on vegan bodybuilding, I was disappointed to find so few professional bodybuilders who don't consume mass quantities of meat or whey supplements. If you know any really big guys who gained all their muscle on a pure vegan diet, please spread the news so we can dispel the myth that you have to eat animals to gain muscle! -Sean
