  1. Hello! To be honest, it was VERY difficult to give up fish. I was pretty much living a vegan lifestyle with the exception of going to my favorite sushi place in the island once a week or ever 2 weeks. Other than that, becoming a vegan was very easy. Okinawa is a very American-friendly place, so they tend to be very nice about those having a vegan lifestyle. We do get to leave the base. Some people even live off base if no base housing is available! The only downside is that we do not have the liberty to drink out in town unless it's from 6-10 pm and it can only be two drinks accompanied by a meal. There have been too many international incidents in the past couple of years. You know, dumb people hahaa. Okinawa is amazing, and if you ever have the chance to come here you will fall in love with it! It's so beautiful, tropical, safe, and friendly! Also, it's very fitness friendly! We have around 12 military bases that have free gyms (because of the military), 2 crossfit boxes (one of them free to military members), and soooo many personal trainers that have been in competitions, including Zoa Lindsey. Thank you for welcoming into the group, and I'm excited to know more about everyone!
  2. Hi guys! My name is Carola, and I am from both Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California. I currently live in Okinawa, Japan due to being enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. I have been eating vegan for almost a year with a few bumps in the road (I finally decided to give up fish!!!!). I initially started by watching certain documentaries and getting very educated in the subject, and I decided to clean my diet after I realized how the animals were being treated, and most importantly the impact on health. I have always been very active, but I just recently got into weightlifting, CrossFit, and high intese training. My main goal is to one day maybe participate in a bikini contest, although I am waaaaay far from it. I am currently a few pounds overweight, and to be honest I have never really been happy with my body, and I have always had a horrible relationship with food. Eating vegan had helped me acquire the sense of "control" that I needed in my life in order to move forward with my relationship with food, and even though I am still far from my goals, and I getting closer ever day! If you have any tips on hot cut off body fat, it would be greatly appreciated! If you are interested in knowing more about me, please visit my Instragam profile @carolatic or my blog http://www.lovaticwanderlust.wordpress.com I hope you all have a great day!!
