  1. I have been on this website for a couple of days now and I see that people are always using the blender to make juices. Is this used for the purposes of a meal replacement, protein supplement, or just as an energy drink. What are the benefits of juicing? Since I am new to this I am trying to incorporate more vegetables in my diet and trying to figure out how and when to take them. I would greatly appreciate if some of the forum members can provide some insight on what ingredients you blend in (recipes), what quantity, how many calories, when you take them, etc. I have finally realized that I am calorie deficient thats why I am lacking energy. I look forward to hearing your responses Atul
  2. Thanks for the info. I appreciate all your comments and I plan to implement them in my lifestyle. I am wondering if most people on this board eat whole foods or juice most of the time. I always see people saying they eat avocados, spinach, broccoli, etc. But I have no clue in what form most people eat these vegetables. Any ideas?
  3. It is great to find a website dedicated to vegan fitness. Unfortunately I have hired nutritionists in the past and they prescribe a diet and fitness plan that doesnt fit my lifestyle. I am hoping by joining this website that I can get gain some advice on getting over the hump and reaching my goal of having energy and being physically fit. A brief background about myself and why I joined. I will be turning 28 in a month and I wanted to become physically fit again. I turned vegan/part time vegetarian a few years ago and my weight started yo-yoing up and down. Before I started this diet I was fairly normal 5-10 190 pounds with avearge strength. After I gave up a meat I started yo-yoing between 160-180 pounds. I developed a pair shaped body with extremely skinny arms and legs. Unfortunatly in the past few months I have started to become extremely lethargic/have no energy and my strength level has decreased immensely. My body fat percentage went from 17 percent to 23 percent and I can barely do 1 push up right now. I checked my thyroid and got blood work done but everything came back normal. I am thoroughly confused now and all my doctors have been saying that it is probably my diet. Hence I joined this forum so people can give me advice on what to do. Unfortunately there are very few vegetarian/vegan nutritionists in this area so hopefully people can provide me with help in making an eating/food calendar, supplement, and exercise plan. I run 3 miles a day and box for a half an hour daily. I am thinking that I need to bulk up my frame and stay in the 180-190 pound weight range. I am just tired of having chicken arms and legs with a 37 inch gut. I need functional strength, I dont want to be weak anymore Here is a sample of my daily diet daily 730 am soy milk smoothie with banana, strawberries, 2 scoops soy protein powder 1030am boca burger sandwich. Two slices of wheat bread, two boca burgers with lettuce and hummus 1pm two trader joes' rice and bean burritos 330pm soy protein shake with an apple 5-6 workout 6pm - brown rice with lentils and or beans 9pm - soy protein shake Hopefully some of the forum members on here can provide me with some advice on getting back on track. My goal is to be at 10 percent body fat be December 2008 with a boxer's body which means lean and muscular (Floyd Mayweather or Rampage Jackson in MMA). I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Atul
