  1. So I received my free sample of firstman4health's protein shake, and I have to say that I was definitely impressed! I have to admit that I was sceptical because every company claims that their product is the best and tastiest, but this stuff is definitely the best protein shake I've ever tasted. My girlfriend (who's a professional arm wrestler) liked it a lot as well. The only problem for me is the price of the stuff. On the website they sell 10 packages for $39.99 (one package = one shake), so after shipping I'd be looking at $4.50ish a shake. If I was a little better off cash-wise I think I'd consider ordering a bunch of this stuff, but for now it's out of my price range. I strongly recommend it to those who could afford it though!
  2. The other day I went to the local organic health food store here and saw that they were charging $80.00 Canadian (so $60.00ish American) for a not-so-large container of the stuff. Definitely too rich for my blood now but maybe when I land decent job I'll get into trying the stuff out. After reading the ingredient list it looks like it's a super-potent form of protein!
  3. Wow. It's incredible how a such an educated person could say such stupid and ignorant things. It's definitely cool that she was part of forming Justice for Women, but she's way off on this issue. One comment (among many) that caught my eye was this one: I was raised in a working-class environment and now that I'm living off a student loan I'm poorer than ever. It's actually quite easy to make healthy vegan meals if you're on a tight budget, I would think that a (healthy) meat/dairy diet would be more costly. Cheese is so expensive these days.
  4. I can't wait to check out that film! Sounds like it's going to be great! Contratulations on all of your accomplishments!
  5. Do you run for cardio at all? I have a couple friends that run a lot and have developed huge calves from just doing that. They don't even work them in the gym. That's something I'm considering getting into myself.
  6. Yeah for myself I use the term hardcore to refer to both metalcore and the more traditional-style hardcore. I'm into bands like Bane, Zao, Comeback Kid, Arkangel etc.
  7. About 80% of my friends are vegetarian, but only about 4 or 5 of us are fully vegan. The most common reason for not being vegan is: I'm all for animal rights but I could never be that hardcore/extreme, or I could never give up ice cream cake etc.. I don't pass any kind of judgment or anything, I just think people don't realize how easy it is to find things like vegan ice cream, milk, etc. I can see some of my friends becoming more and more interested in the lifestyle, you just have to plant ideas in people's minds and let them discover it for themselves.
  8. Nice! I've been into hardcore for years and love to throwdown every once and a while. The problem is that there aren't that many people into hardcore in Saskatoon, and there's always a big rivalry between the punks and the few hardcore kids (stupid, I know). Our sister city of Regina has an enormous hardcore scene though!
  9. That guy's awesome! I'm definitely impressed!
  10. Well here in western Canada you can buy the stuff in every grocery store, it's the most common brand of sugar around these parts. I'm not sure if the stuff's sold in Ontario or not...
  11. Do they have Rogers brand sugar in your city? If so you'll be happy to know that it is 100% vegan. A friend of mine called the company when he was making brownies and they told him that they don't use any animal bones when they process their sugar. I'm not sure about other brands though.
  12. When I first went vegan it was a combination of being into animal rights and wanting to become leaner (I was really over-weight). After a while I started getting into environmentalism and when I found out what a positive effect a vegan diet can have on the planet, it motivated me to stick with it even more.
  13. Hey everybody. I stumbled onto this site a couple weeks ago and I have to say that I'm super impressed with it! It's really cool to see that there are people serious about fitness and big into veganism at the same time! I've been vegan for nearly six years now, and I've been weight lifting the whole time. I've been able to put on a little muscle, but never all that much. I've been watching what some of you eat and have altered my diet to ensure that I form a complete protein with every meal I eat. I'm hoping that it'll make a difference. Either way, I still enjoy lifting weights just for the fun of it as well. I'm looking forward to having some good conversations with you all!
