strawberryriddick Posted December 20, 2008 Share Posted December 20, 2008 Everyone was enjoying some dessert and I didn't have anything available to me except a pear, and I didn't feel like eating a fruit...I wanted a dessert. You'll Need1 pear per person, sliced and seeded1 tablespoon olive oil or other cooking oil per pear1-2 good pinches of brown sugar per pearBalsamic vinegar1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract per pear To DoHeat a pan on medium heat, heat oil, add sliced pear. Cook until caramelized (golden browned) on one side, flip each slice to cook the other side. While caramelizing the other side, add brown sugar, vanilla, and a splash of balsamic vinegar. When it's nice and hot and caramelized, remove from heat, put on a plate, and add a swirl of balsamic to look fancy. I was surprised at how this tasted, because it tasted creamy, like I had melted vanilla ice cream or something in there.
