#1 Postby Veganluv » Sun Jan 24, 2010 8:42 pm

I dont eat this often But I really have a love for Vegan French Toast & I have played around with a few different recipe's.
If you have a great one please share! YUM!

Today I made it and it turned out pretty good:
1 1/2 organic rice milk
1 T organic cornstarch
wee bit of salt
cinnamon
1/2 banana

blend well in a blender
dipped sprouted barley bread in mix & grilled until golden

organic maple syrup & a small bit of earth balance

There's one in Vegan with a Vengeance that is really tasty ("Fronch" Toast)...haven't made it in awhile but I remember it has chickpea flour in it.

I've tried an awesome recipe for French Toast Muffins that's ridiculously good! I bake them at night, grab two in the morning, slice them across and spread some maple syrup then sprinkle almond slices and then just microwave to warm them up. SO DELICIOUS! Here's the recipe online: http://nomnomnomblog.com/2009/04/29/not ... -a-recipe/

There's a really good recipe in this new cookbook we just bought called Vegan Comfort Food. Actually, most of the recipes we've made from it have been excellent.

Chris what else have you made from it? I have that book but I haven't used it much so far. Too many cookbooks, not enough time to cook everything. :)

Fettuccine Alfredo, sauce one (very, very good)
Chick'n Seitan - very tasty
Portobello Fajitas - nice alternative, balsamic was a bit strong, adding the beans into the fajitas balanced it out
Filet-O-Tofish Sandwiches - they were decent--depends if you like that sort of thing
Veggie "Meat" Loaf - very good but too sweet, next time I'll sub tomato sauce for the ketchup

The only vegan French toast recipe i've tried is very simple and pretty good...
Put some sliced bread in something that can go in the oven, preheat the oven at 300 celcius degrees or whatwver, pour soy milk on the bread and turn the slices over, let rest for 5 minutes and then put in the oven. Cook 2-5 minutes turn over the bread and then another 3 or 5 minutes depending how cooked you want it.
Serve with fruits and agave nectar, a smoothie or a cup of tea :-)

I second this! Definitely the best french toast I've ever had.

I ate french toasts today: bread in a pan cooked with strawberry soymilk and coconut oil. It was delicious with agave nectar, raisins, cherry jam, hemp seeds and vanilla soy ice cream... I'm not used to all that sugar though so I felt a bit dizzy...

Here we call it "pain doré", golden bread.
