Here is a really easy split pea soup recipe that I make all of the time and have on hand for busy days.
1.5 cups of split peas 1 onion 2 carrots 2 potatoes 2 celery ribs rolled oats or all purpose flour dill garlic powder bay leaf salt pepper 5-6 cups of water
Ok, so dice all of the veggies and toss them in an oiled soup pot on medium heat. Let these cook for about 5 minutes. Add about a spoon full of powdered garlic, a spoon full of dill, a spoon full of salt, a dash of pepper and a bay leaf and cook for one more minute. Add the split peas and water. Crank the heat up and let this come to a boil and then drop it to a simmer. Let that go for a while until the peas soften "soak the peas in advance if you want this to happen sooner." When the peas are soft "about 45 minutes" add a few spoons of rolled oats or flour to the soup and then blend it all in your blender "make sure to lift the small cap on the inside a little so that soup doesn't splash out from the heat pressure." Enjoy this with some sprouted bread or corn bread.
