45g protein sandwich on the go.

#1 Postby ForwardConcern » Mon Sep 26, 2011 12:24 am

When my schedule is busy I rely on this tiny sandwhich to give me a pretty dense meal.

1 Organic Tortilla (Eziekel Brand Prefferred) - 6g protein.

1 Tofurky Sausage - 26-29g protein

1 Tablespoon Veganaise

1/2 Cup of baby spinach - 1-2g protein

1 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast - 8g protein

1 Small heirloom tomato or 1 Tbsp of crushed tomato's 1g protein

Daiya cheese optional.

41-45g of protein depending on variation.

50g of carbs and 23g of fat (if you skip the Daiya Cheese and use the lowest fat Veganaise the flax and olive oil one).

Enjoy!

Add 500ml (16oz) of orange juice on the side and you're just 1g shy of 50g of protein in one meal. Plus a few more carbs for energy.

You need to take in lots of protein, about 1 gram of protein for each pound of body weight per day. I like to take creative before and after a workout. This is a personal choice. Other than that, eat healthy and take a good vitamin supplement. :D

I like it! I was just thinking about how to put together a quick, high protein meal to take to work and I had almost the same idea--ezekiel tortilla, tofurkey sausage, and spinach. I think it would be great with the tomato-basil hummus from Trader Joe's.

Lol...you could eat 50g of almonds and get over that much fat.

Or one and half tablespoons of olive oil.

Obviously, I meant I've never made an effort to do so

That's not that much fat. Heck I get more from two tablespoons of Omega 3 Flax oil.

I'm bulking right now and eating anywhere from 100-200 grams of fat a day.

How does the tofurky taste? I'm sort of trying to branch out into all the vegan-made imitation foods - so I can get enough protein to support my sport :P Kinda iffy after a few bouts with super gross soy cheese, but I love Daiya SO MUCH. Hee hee.

Daiya is the best! Don't bother with other Vegan Cheeses. And tofurky pretty much tastes like delicious. My favorite is the italian sausage (29 grams of protein in one sausage!)
