Raw protein smoothies - good recipes?

#1 Postby princessbee » Mon Oct 09, 2006 12:09 am

Since I am increasingly considering a raw food trial I would like to know what powerful raw protein smoothie recipes you fabulous foodies have so I can abandon my whey-protein based smoothie that I have a bit of a hand-cuffed attachment to!

THANK YOU! :love1:

Raw hemp protein is a good basis for a raw smoothie. Add it to fresh juice or water and fruits, or add some frozen banana to it (peel ripe bananas, then break into 2-3 pieces and freeze in a container).

I'm also a big fan of raw hemp protein ~ powder for your shakes and seeds for sprinkling on salads, etc. :D

Here is one that I do. I haven't tried the hemp protein yet, but I am sure it would blend well with this. Take a couple of oranges and blend that first. I usually blend oranges to get all of the fiber, instead of juicing them. I then add a handful of greens "spinach or collards." If your blender sucks, do the spinach because it will blend easier. If you have a VitaMix or some other sweet blender, the collards have some interesting character. Next I'll add either a banana, chopped papaya, or pineapple. Finally, I'll take some berries and add those two. This smoothie has it all in there. It looks like sludge by the end of it, but I think it taste pretty good.

Hemp Protein

#6 Postby oregonisaac » Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:48 am

If you are down with raw cacao, then this is good:

1 scoop raw hemp protein
1 tbls raw almond butter
1 tbls raw coconut oil
1 tbls raw cacao
1 banana
just add liquid...

I usually do my greens separately because the hemp protein is so green and green tasting as is.

I did not know that.

I normally add hemp protein to a fruit smoothie, that's about the easiest to make in my opinion.

Rice proteins are usually processed at or less than 90 degrees.

That still doesn't help their disgusting taste.

I'm not sure how PrincessBee will go sourcing Hemp protein here in Australia. I've not seen it anywhere....
Soy and Rice Protein seems to be all that is available, and I agree with Zack, Rice Protein doesn't taste very nice...

I could do something like that :) We talked about banners in the past. I don't know him well but I've talked to him up in Canada and in L.A. at various large trade shows.

I will try to set up more discounts for members of this community. In due time, in due time :)
