hmm1219
This is one of my current pre-comp staples. Cook brown rice and barley to desired consistency. (I like it mushy-sticky). Per 1/2C (cooked) serving, add a serving of unflavored protein powder. My fave for this is Naturade's Non-soy "Natural" flavor. Add plain non-dairy beverage (my fave: Silk's Plain Unsweetened) and stir it up to desired consistency, much like cooked oats. Add sea salt and pepper to taste. Other variations might include the addition of nutritional yeast for added cheesiness; chopped nuts; veggies; veg cheese shreds--whatever you want. Right now I need to keep it simple, but it's a nice change from oatmeal and sweet potatoes sometimes.
xveganjoshx
This sounds great! BTW, that protein powder is my favorite protein powder.
hmm1219
Thanks! I'll find any way to sneak in that protein right now. I find that protein powder quite versatile, and due to the amount of tofu I eat pre-comp, it helps cut down on the soy load too. Let me know what you think! I also posted a protein "sauce" I make with this powder. I pour it over veggies and it's delish! And another fetuccine recipe with it too. Check them out. Mixed into soups, purees, etc., it really works well too. Take care, stay well, Heather
