no more stress

#1 Postby Hero » Mon Nov 21, 2005 8:46 pm

yeh things may be stressful in my life, especially financial debt due to school loans and a vehicle. I also worried about not having a career or a job or whatever. but ya no what? I no longer let things bother me. I just decided its a waste of energy to worry and let things get to me. so its done and over. no more worrying.

Funny you have come to this realization. After my own spiritual journey (which is always ongoing). Some of the things I came to believe was:
1-God will never give me anything I can't handle, 2-My life is pre-destined fighting it or stressing about it is useless. With this knowledge I have overcome many obsticles in my life and continue to (I also believe I have not fullfilled my destiny or I'd be already dead). Sometimes I have to keep reminding myself that 1-I can handle it & 2-there is already an outcome pre-destined, I just don't know what it is and even if I don't realize it now, I'll be better off from what I have learned.

Stress free Topher is a good thing

I've come to the conclusion that stress really is actually bad for your health. Since I was escorted from the building I worked at 5 months ago, and it's slowly become more and more clear that I've been blacklisted, and all the years of hard work and stress I went through to get to here have been for nothing, why I've been extremely stressed.

And so, of course, my health has collapsed. Numerous problems have left me bedridden here and there. That's why I've been reduced to just fasting. Of course I don't have health insurance not that it would help me anyway.

When I found out a few days ago that along with all else my PhD had most likely also been ruined thanks to the blacklisting or whatever the hell is going on, I reached the point where I just didn't care anymore.

Life is me sitting in a cage with a bunch of monkeys. They throw poo at me. They hit me with sticks. They really annoy the hell out of me. But why get mad at monkeys?

I am a very positive person, I never get depressed, because my outlook on life is that it can always be worse. If I am not starving to death or fighting for survival, then what do I have to complain about? People get stressed about the most mundane things, like money and possessions. Life is too short, do what you want to do when you want to do it and deal with it as it comes.

I wish I could have no more stress. I even went to massage therapy school and teach others about lowering stress but mine is very high :(

There are many things I struggle with and stress/expectations is one of them.

Any basic suggestions for me?

Thanks

Stressful day with the long shipping holiday and nothing moving. All my foreign clients are at a bit of a loss as they are not to familar with the holiday and want their stuff. UPS has misrouted countless incoming shipments for me and several of my suppliers leaving me with screaming Customer Service calls which I handle personally. I don't think it's fair to ask anyone else to handle disgruntled people.

The best I can do is keep calm, not raise my voice and continue to apologise to angry persons, even though it is totally out of my control. I have to keep reminding myself that I can only do what is possible, but am still stressed (I'really hate it when my body won't listen to my mind).

Anyway, deep breathes, and one hard core workout tonight will help.

On the positive side I have been able to do damage control and save all effected orders by upping shipment, free shipping etc meaning no lost customers and everyone gets their stuff by the time they need it. Course my company, means it's out of my paycheck. *sigh* :(

express yourself at the moment something affects you.
confront.
dont hide feelings or impersonalize them in an email.
do them in person.
I used to hide my feelings and thoughts and it led to some huge mental/emotional breakdowns. and last thing anyone wants is an episode.
so feel free to express yourself. also speak your true mind without worries of offending others or sugarcoating your feelings. thats not healthy.

I'd say a person isn't really your friend unless you are both totally honest with each other. The problem is that most people quite obviously actually prefer to be friends with you if you avoid talking about negative things, etc. I just don't get it. But there is no doubt about it. I see it here the same as absolutely everywhere else I've ever been.

Anyway I'd think the biggest cause of stress (for most) is lack of money and/or worrying about getting fired. So then the thing to do is get a relatively easy job (but with health insurance) and learn to live frugally.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've had a hard time dealing with stress for a long time. I think I actually spend most of my day stressed out about one thing or another.

I'm one of those people who makes a list of things to do every single day, and I even include eating and napping/sleeping on there. I have high expectations for myself and others, although I'm fairly disorganized.

So I'll continue to work on ways to lower stress. I often don't know what to do if I finish a project, so I started watching a few sports on TV and some comedy shows to re-teach myself how to "relax." I need to get back into massage therapy again too.
