Variety has reviewed Repo Chick, Alex Cox’s new movie, a non-sequel to his 1984 cult classic Repo Man. The film preemed at the Venice Film Festival this week and there’s not a whole lot of buzz online yet so this is all we’ve got.
Described by the trade mag as “a wacky blend of leftist, anti-establishment politics, eye-searing colors, outre costumes and manic overacting,” this is the story of a disinherited heiress, Pixxi de la Chasse, turned “repo chick” who discovers a cadre of anti-golf vegan terrorists.
Yes, both golf and the animal industrial complex are under attack in this new movie featuring Xander Berkeley, Rosanna Arquette, Miguel Sandoval and Jaclyn Jonet.
The terrorists’ raison d’etre, it seems, is for the President to close down all golf courses and ban the sport entirely, giving decent screen time to rants about the frivolity and wastefulness of the leisure sport. Also getting a big cheer from Ecorazzi’s sustainably harvested peanut gallery is the motley crew’s call for the entire government go vegan!
Looks like our heroine’s job is to pursue a stolen antique train that our guerrilla friends are using to transport missiles. I love it when a plan comes together.
Anything else on your mind that you would like to discuss with other like-minded people.
