I never knew people thought neanderthals didn't eat plants. I took a class on prehistoric human behavior and there was a whole section on neanderthals and their probable interaction and interbreeding with early homo-sapiens which never specifically said they definitely ate plants, but it did say they probably did eat various roots as well as grasses as part of their normal diet.
