Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness Newsletter - May 12, 2011

Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness Clothing is back and Forks Over Knives opens Nationwide!

Hey everyone!

This is just a brief newsletter to highlight a few things going on in the Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness world. As usual, I’ll remind you that it isn’t a “mailing list” per se, I just click one button that says “email all forum users” so if you’re getting this email it is because you registered as a member of our forum. If you wish to not get these emails once every few months, I can manually remove you for the forum. Just email and provide me with your screen name or the email address you signed up with. I apologize if I missed a prior request to be removed. I tend to get a lot of emails myself and could have missed it.

In this Newsletter:

1. Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness clothing has returned!

2. Forks Over Knives Opens Nationwide This Weekend!

3. Vegan Essentials lowered the price of Vega!

4. Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness Book - An best-seller 5 months and counting

5. product sale - Vegan Proteins+

1. Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness clothing has returned!

After a 2-year hiatus, the Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness clothing has returned. Starting small in order to manage the financial burden of bringing the clothing back, I started very simply with black shirts with a white logo in both men's and women's options in sizes S-XL by American Apparel. I have since produced a limited quantity of royal blue shirts with white logo, as seen in many photos over the years, somewhat of a staple color for us, and added green shirts with white logo this week.

Shirts will be available on any day now, but many of you have been emailing me ordering from me directly. I am happy to fulfill orders directly until Vegan Essentials has them online and it helps me cushion the financial commitment it has taken to bring the shirts back to life. Shirts are $20 each + $4.95 shipping for US, $7.95 for CAN, and $9.95 for all other countries, based on the actual cost to ship shirts from the US elsewhere. You can simply make an appropriate payment based on what you're interested in to via and your shirt + extras like Vega packets and coupons, will be sent out right away.

Thank you for your support! Images of the clothing are on my Facebook page in tagged photos (Robert Cheeke) and will be on momentarily.

2. Forks Over Knives Opens in Movie Theaters Nationwide May 13, 2011

A new documentary sparks a national discussion that is long overdue. What if we can prevent and even reverse diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and maybe some forms of cancer by adopting a whole food plant-based diet? Would that change everything from our healthcare system to solving some of our greatest environmental and health problems?

The documentary film Forks Over Knives opened in Los Angeles and New York on May 6th and rolls out nationwide beginning May 13, 2011. The film examines the profound claim that many of our most-debilitating degenerative diseases – such as heart disease, type-2 diabetes, and several forms of cancer – are almost always preventable, and in many cases reversible, through diet alone. The major storyline traces the journeys of Dr. T. Colin Campbell, a nutritional biochemist from Cornell University, and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, a former top surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic.

The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. Throughout the film, cameras follow “reality patients” who have chronic conditions from heart disease to diabetes. Doctors teach these patients how to adopt a whole foods plant-based diet as the primary approach to treat their ailments – while the challenges and triumphs of their journeys are revealed.

Forks Over Knives has been featured on Dr. Oz, CNN and among other outlets. The film received a glowing review from acclaimed film critic Roger Ebert and comes to a theater near you soon. Brian Wendel is the Creator and Executive Producer and Lee Fulkerson is the Writer and Director. For more information please visit

It has been very exciting for me as an author to see my book being embraced the way that it has. For the past 5 months my Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness book has been an Top 100 best-seller in multiple categories (weight training and vegan). The rankings change by the hour, but day by day, week by week and now month by month for nearly half a year, the book has managed to stay in the top 100 in one or both categories. It has also hovered around the top 5000-10,000 ranking of all titles Amazon carries which is somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 million books that they offer.

News Update

For those who don't know, I am currently in Los Angeles working with the film Forks Over Knives in a variety of roles centered around marketing and promoting the film. I'm cutting back on some of my other work and people like Derek and Marcella featured on the front of are stepping into new leadership roles moving forward. I'll still be around, but I'm pursuing some other interests at the moment and wont' be around online quite as much. This is the first newsletter since January, so even these news updates are less frequent, though hopefully still helpful in some way. I'll try not to bother you often, but with the clothing making its return and Forks Over Knives opening this weekend, I figured it was time to rattle your inbox. That sounds kinda bad now that I look at it on paper....oh well. You've been sufficiently rattled. I appreciate your support in all capacities.

As some others take on new roles, look for future newsletters to have workout plans, meal plans, recipes, tips, etc. in addition to some product, media and other related news.

I want to give a special shout out to Richard Watts who has been managing
the website for half a decade and who re-designed
recently. Great stuff Richard! I appreciate you so much!

Have an outstanding summer!

That's it for now. Thanks for reading. Enjoy seeing Forks Over Knives this weekend! The better it does in the box office, the greater the chances are that it will play in your town too. Visit for a list of locations and theaters.
