Best place to buy weights?

Looks like Sports Authority might be the cheapest. They have a 300lb Olympic barbell set for $210, while K-Mart has it for $220, Dick's doesn't have it, Big 5 doesn't have it, and Wal-Mart has it for $480!

Yeah, a Sport Authority sale + Friends and Family coupon (whenever they are available) is usually the best deal for a barbell set. I picked up one a few years back and it's great.

Walmart has decently priced kettlebells, order online with free shipping to the store. Reviews are great for the new CAP Barbell kettlebells. I've been eyeing one I might be ordering soon...

I managed to get a pullup/dip "Power Tower" at Kmart for $45, but that was a lucky deal. They were on the last stage of clearance, all the ones in the area were sold out but as luck would have it, the kmart about 2 hours from me--which happened to be 10 minutes from a customer I was visiting the next day--had one left in stock.

Other than that... try craigslist. I bought a nice inversion table from someone that was in great condition. Of course, there's also tons of crap up for sale as well.

I bought about 400lb of weights a few years ago for £20 (if my memory serves me). I 'phoned gyms and asked them if they had any imperial weights they didn't use and was lucky on my 4th or 5th attempt. They included a 6-foot barbell bar and two 65lb fixed dumbbells. The rest are a mixture of 25, 15, 10 and 5-pound discs. My car was back heavy as I drove home with all that weight in the boot.

Craigslist is #1, otherwise, Ebay and newspaper ads for people selling stuff, etc. - you can ALWAYS find good deals on used equipment if you live near a decent-sized city (I'm sure there's no shortage of stuff for sale in the Denver area). Might take a bit of scouring around, but we furnished much of our gym with used equipment that cost about 1/4 that of buying things new. Why pay $1200 for a massive power rack when you can get one for $200 so long as you haul it away yourself? Got some of our best stuff from Craigslist, that's where people really love to unload exceptional equipment for the best prices. Desperate times mean people are selling stuff they paid top-dollar for, now just trying to get a fraction of that amount because they know it's doing them no good sitting in their basement, garage or spare bedroom.

If you have a Play It Again Sports nearby, that's the next best bet, they re-sell used equipment and sometimes you can find a goldmine there for a decent price. Not as good as when people are liquidating stuff via the other places mentioned, but still a fair deal.
