I am having some trouble with uploading an avatar. I have gone to the edit avatar section and it only gives me the option to attach a url for the picture but there is no option to upload it from my computer. Can someone please help me with this? thank you so much for any suggestions.

You can't upload from your computer to this site. You need to upload it to another site and copy the URL. There is a topic to explain how if you're not sure:

You can upload avatar by going to user control panel and in profile there is an option saying upload, so through that we can upload.

I don't think that's the case, you must link to an off-site image
