What're you saying, KarakD.? That spending an hour every day picking at your face until you look like a strung-out vampire Kewpie Doll isn't as much fun as stepping out of the shower clean, pure, naked, and gorgeous? :D

Weight discrimination...still stupid.

The worst way to get a person to lose weight is to shame them by drawing attention to their appearance. The mirror is not news to them. If they are overweight due to low self-esteem, your comment only intensifies it. If they are overweight due to illness, it's often not something they can change without help. And you're not helping.

The best way to help a person lose weight is to inspire them by empowering them. Remind them how strong they are, how smart, and how skilled. Make them feel like they can do anything. When someone tells you you're a strong weightlifter, you lift more. Help them lift more; lift them up with your smile.

Remember: when you hate someone, it has nothing to do with them...and everything to do with you.

A power lifter shows us the personal, private, legal, scientific, historical, and athletic stories of steroid use in a compelling documentary that is smart, honest, and entertaining.

It's when a guy looks in the mirror and sees skinny, no matter what his reality is. Below is a brief documentary on it but be warned: there are some spectacularly gross images, including icky medical stuff. On the humorous side, there's a few quotes from a young Schwarzenegger, doing nothing to improve his image as an oft-times crass bastard.

Wow, what a most excellent documentary (minus the real disgusting scenes, but which I think some guys do need to see). I need to find the full length version of this. Funny, when I do too much weight lifting, I have a natural "gees, that looks too big" reaction, which is usually when I switch to more cardio. Sorry, but too much muscle just doesn't look good.

Pregorexia? Yup, it's real.

Pregorexia is when expectant mothers are determined to gain the least amount of weight possible during pregnancy, endangering their child and themselves. Thin-obsessed Hollywood has made pregorexia fashionable such that even a healthy and normal weight gain draws negative judgement. Just as the milk industry pushes calcium and helps cause widespread magnesium deficiency, and the new lower BMI recommendations induce perfectly healthy people to base their entire body image on an ambiguous number, new highly restrictive weight gain recommendations for mothers-to-be have fanned the flames of pregorexia, causing low birth weight and premature infants with a whole host of medical problems. Considering millions of women the world over have gained more than twelve pounds during the gestation of their child, and managed to bring generation upon generation of healthy, happy kids into the world, this new mindset of what pregnancy should look like is, to use a medical term, nucking futs.

I noticed that, too. Could it be that eating healthy food and putting in the time actually yields results? Who knew?
