What are your favorite places you have traveled to in the world and why?

So far for me they have been:

Poland, I love the beaches, the people had a very genuine feeling to them and were mostly happy and friendly. Visited a beach, a castle, a forest to go mushroom picking, a lake, and some dance clubs, it was amazing there.

The Yucatan (Cancun). Got lucky on this trip and had a friends brother in law give us a private tour outside of the tourist areas. My favorite beach experiences of all time, Mayan ruins we incredible, snorkling, and under ground cave pools.

Japan (Tokyo/Kyoto), Did so much there I cant even start to talk about all of it without going into an hour long story.

Australia and New Zealand. Camping, music fest, Melbourne music and comedy scene, wine tasting, Sydney beaches, got to perform comedy in Aukland, met some really cool people, spent time with awesome relatives.

Istanbul is my favorite place so far! Pretty much everyone seemed fluent in English which I was apprehensive about before I went, I managed to find pretty decent grain & bean salad type things at every restaurant we went to, and the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque were breathtaking. There didn't seem to be any weird scam artists and/or thieves about and I felt very, very safe there. Plus, Turkish delights rule.

Yes! That is part of the reason I started this thread and I hope more people jump in. I have never thought about going to Istanbul in my life. I love learning about places, it excites me and makes me want to travel everywhere!
