vegantri
Full disclosure on this. I am a vegan but not a raw vegan and I have no guru. The linked article seemed to be an attempt to smear raw vegans based on the actions of few.
Fallen_Horse
I can sum up 'the truth' about raw vegan gurus more accurately than that article did in a dozen paragraphs: most raw vegan gurus are nuts!
vegan_rossco
I can sum up 'the truth' about raw vegan gurus more accurately than that article did in a dozen paragraphs: most raw vegan gurus are nuts!Agreed. Just the word guru makes me cringe.. They make veganism look like some cult associated with odd people with pseudo bullshit claims
Comingtocyberspace
It amazes me how so many 80-10-10 people make a living through youtube. Do you notice a lot of the 80-10-10 have little muscle tone. Did you see Aston Kutcher ended up in the hospital for following a high fruit diethttp://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2013/01/26/ashton-kutcher-steve-jobs-sundance/1866023/
JubNZ
This is the weakness with all communities I feel. There needs to be some form of authorising body. Its hard to implement, as the term Vegan can be a broad term. As a recreational poker player, seeing what the http://theppa.org/ does for legislation is something I feel the Vegan community can work towards. robert
I don't like the term "guru" either, and having a few, questionable authoritative figures representing a movement can be troublesome. I personally know most people who were mentioned in that report. I've been around the vegan and raw vegan communities for nearly 20 years so I've seen a lot of stuff and have spent time with a lot of interesting characters. At the end of the day, I think sticking with plant-based whole foods, cooked or raw, is a good way to go. Perhaps it is a good idea to follow lead scientists and doctors rather than gurus who became popular by selling things. Eating healthy plant foods and exercising often seems logical enough.
