Richard
Maybe black sabbath. That way I'd still have quite a lot of albums if I took Rage Against the Machine or Pantera or something, I'd only have a few albums then, even if I do really like them. lelle
i would prefer a self-mixed cd with all my favourite songs. but if i had to choose only one band, i would not know what to choose....maybe coheed and cambria @topher: deftones are really great! Crash
I'm with Lelle, too many good songs from different bands to settle for just one.

robert
Lelle, You mean you wouldn't choose Backstreet Boys Are you crazy I don't know who I'd choose. I know I have to be careful about what I list here because I don't want to scare anyone away. I don't think I've heard music from any of the bands any of you have mentioned. I'm a vegan guy who likes western music, country music, and also rap. I know, I know..........but that is what I listen to. I also like 3 Doors Down and Linkin Park (aside from my country and rap). I don't listen to a lot of music so it would be hard to decide what to take, if just one, but maybe Kenny Chesney.....maybe Tim McGraw....or 3 Doors Down. I need to get into more Vegan Music. The bands and singers I mentioned aren't exactly vegan or very vegan friendly. Although Shania Twain is a strict vegetarian and I think VEGAN for 11 years or something like that. CollegeB
If Im goin to just be sittin around on the beach drinking coconut milk I think I'll just bring plenty of the grateful dead's music with me. I'd probably die before I listened to everything!
compassionategirl
The only bands mentioned in this thread that I have actually heard of are Black Sabbth and Greatful and Back STreet Boys. i am still trying to figure out if this is a generational thing
Richard
I wouldn't have thought it's generationalizationismable, I think it's just a matter of what people happen to come across in their life, and also what they take notice of and what they're interested in. It's not like Back Street Boys are connected in any way with Black Sabbath apart from that they both start with 'B'. An anagram of Back Street Boys is: Soy Becket Brats. Think about that. And Black Sabbath is: Th' Lab Sab Back ... ... ...
robert
OH NO! Poor Thin Thin Flat Him is gonna be stuck on an island with only country music. Yeah, I'll probably be off by myself so nobody else will have to hear Just kidding. Actually I'd probably listen to some of the local music there and support the local scene. What you don't want is me singing. I'm in the top 1% worst singers in the World. I'm terrible. -Robert

Richard
Hard to believe though that Black Sabbath started almost 40 years ago! Did Black Sabbath really just start when the band started writing music? Or did it start when they were BORN? Or did it start when awesomeness was invented, which was in 89,401 B.C. Think about it, do the maths
veganmadre
no, richard, I am not doing any math! there! music. i have to learn to build a coconut cd player first. that's going to be a challenge. i think i'll bring a beatles anthology. that way i can get my fill of sappy pop songs and some politic songs mixed in with some hardcore "i am totally high and off my rocker" songs. And then maybe I can land on an island where someone has some rage against the machine. that would really be great because then I would have to worry about building a cd player and I could use my cds to reflect the sun and build a fire or something. sorry, i'm talking and i can't shut up! Sknydpr
Does it have to be a band, specifically? I like a lot of bands, but I couldn't live without Beethoven. I could hum or sing everyone else (has horrible mental image of singing Dazed and Confused at the top of his lungs), but the Ode to Joy is a little too complicated for that. sirdle
I'm with you, veganmadre, The Beatles. I can't think of another band that has such a wide variety of sounds... except maybe Paul Anka.
