Hey lets post quotes that we find interesting, inspiring, insulting etc...

"If there is no Logos, no concept either good or bad, if there is only chance (as Monod maintains), then the earth and life on it are not founded on the love and foresight of a Creator. Neither love nor compassion... How then should we develop them if they had no part in our being in the first place?...materialistic views not only remove...[these concepts]... from our origin, they tend to remove them from our being here and now. How is it then, that we are suprised when we find that our materialistic scientific culture can manufacture cold barbarousness on a mass scale? If we remove the concepts of love, compassion, foresight and care from the ground of our human being, is it any wonder that we do not find them in the fruits of our cultural and technological being?...that culture and technology become barbarous?" ~A Ernest Wilder-Smith (author of God: To be or not to be.) Note: this quote was abridged to fit on my AIM away message.

"We each need to be activists, instead of sitting passively and watching the wonders around us disappear undefended and forgotten." - authout unknown.

"When people say "human problems come first", I cannot help but wonder precisely what it is they are doing for the human race that compels them to support the wasteful and ruthless exploitation of farm animals." Singer

"There is something so dreadful, so Satanic, in tormenting those who have never harmed us, who cannot defend themselves, and who are utterly in our power." Cardinal John Henry Newman

"Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight." - Dr. Rev. Albert Schweitzer

"If the animal rights movement appears to push too hard, too fast, it is because the excesses in the opposite direction are mammoth in comparison." - me

"One cannot speak of peace with a mouthful of victims of violence." - author unknown.

RELIGIOUS QUOTES

"Love the world with an all-embracing love. Love the animals; God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble them, do not harass them, do not deprive them of their happiness, do not work against God's intent. Man, do not pride yourselves on your superiority to them, for they are without sin, and you with all your greatness defile the earth." -Fyodor Dostoyevsky

"We cannot treat any living thing callously, and we are responsible for what happens to other beings, human or animal, even if we do not personally come into contact with them." Rabbi Pinchas Peli

"ANimals are part of God's creation and people have special responsibilities to them. The Jewish tradition clearly indicates that we are forbidden to be cruel to animals and that we are to treat them with compassion." -Richard Schawrtz

"To stand for Christ is to stand against the evil of cruelty inflicted on those that are weak, vulnerable, unprotected, undefended, morally innocent, and in that class we must unambiguously include animals." Reverend Andrew Linzey

"Animals, as part of God's creation, have rights which must be respected. It behoves us always to be sensitive to their needs and to the reality of their pain." - Dr. Donald Coggan, Archbishop of Canterbury

"We are compelled by the commandment of love contained in our hearts and thought, and proclaimed by Jesus, to give rein to our natural sympathy for animals. We are also compelled to help them and spare them suffering." - Dr. Rev. Albert Schweitzer

"Not to hurt our humble animal brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higehr mission: to be of service whenever they require it." - St. Francis of Assisi

And finally, this one is dedicated to you Topher:

"St. Francis looked upon creation with the eyes of one who could recognize in it the marvelous work of the hand of God. His solicitous care, not only towards men, but also towards animals is a faithful echo of the love with which God in the beginning pronounced his "fiat" which brought them inton existence. We too are called to a similar attitude." Pope John Paul II. Like I have said elsewhere, I think it is so fitting that Topher's Saint of choice was St. Francis - Topher you display that same kind of solicitous care that St. Francis did. It is like he blessed you with that same spirit.

one more:

'True human goodness, in all its purity and freedom, can come to the fore only when its recipient has no power. Mankind's true moral test (which lies deeply buried from view) consists of its attitude toward those who are at its mercy: the animals. And in this respect, mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it.'

"Do we, as humans, having an ability to reason and to communicate abstract ideas verbally and in writing, and to form ethical and moral judgments using the accumulated knowledge of the ages, have the right to take the lives of other sentient organisms, particularly when we are not forced to do so by hunger or dietary need, but rather do so for the somewhat frivolous reason that we like the taste of meat? In essence, should we know better?

I just saw this at work recently and I really liked it. It goes something like this:

"When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt."

It reminded me of a cocky vegan bodybuilder named Robert Cheeke, a few years ago.

Not the same Robert Cheeke of today, but sometimes in the past my mouth got in the way of a solid vegan fitness physique and a company that was trying to change the way peopled viewed vegans (Vegan Bodybuilding & Fitness).

Now I let my work speak for itself and I don't intterupt, except to interrupt and promote other vegan athletes now, not just me.
