Rrettyu
Hello, my name is Andy, I'm 22 and have been vegan for 5 years. I've been weight training off an on for the past 4 years or so, but only got serious about it for the past 2 years. I went to school in New Hampshire, and am currently living in southern Connecticut. I just finished a degree in envrionmental engineering, and then was living out in China for 6 months. I didn't get to train very much, nor did I get to always eat a good meal, and lost most of what I had gained. I've been back to training a lot for the past 4 months and am about back to where I was. I've generally stuck to the tried and true 5x5 routine my powerlifter friends do. I'm vegan more for environmental reasons, to ultimately reduce my ecological footprint. I started training a lot when my friends started doubting that one can gain size on a vegan diet. I've proved them wrong for sure. I've been lurking the boards here for the past few weeks and wanted to finally introduce myself, everyone here seems to be a well informed, positive, helpful person. Thanks for making a resource like this!
robert
Welcome Andy! Thanks for finding us and thanks for saying hi! We do have a great group of informed people who are very supportive. Thanks for noticing that. This group of people helps keep me positive when I'm down and they fuel my motivation as a train. It is great to have you here and I'm sure you'll have a great time getting to know people. I know we have a number of members from CT because I've shipped DVDs, t-shirts and other things there on a number of occasions. Hopefully some of them will find you on here. It is great to expand your local network. All the best, Rob

Odidnetne
I live near Connecticut too. I'm about 70 miles from Danbury, but I used to go up there occasionally last summer, though I'm not sure where in CT you are.

plc3
Hi Andy, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you went to UNH...? Are you working for a consulting firm in CT? I am new to the board too. I mostly lurk as well. I have been getting myself psyched up to overhaul my diet and exercise regime. After next Thursday, I intend to start the overhaul. These people are very friendly and reading their posts have been very motivating to me. This a really a nice little community...and it is nice to come someplace where I don't feel like I have to be on the defensive about my diet choice. Welcome! Yep I attended UNH, and have been looking for jobs all over the place. I'll be in CT until the end of June, and am interviewing/figuring out what consulting firm I will land in. I lived in Dover for most of my UNH experience, its such a nice up and coming town. I hope you're enjoying the rain.
plc3
I hope you're enjoying the rain Yesterday and today have been nice and sunny - a nice break from the rain. I lucked out - no damage to my home from the flooding, and none of the roads that I travel have been affected. A lot of other people haven't been so lucky. But, there has only been one reported death due to the rain and consequent flooding, so as much this has affected people, it could have been a lot worse. Good luck with the job hunt!
