princessbee
Hi all! Nice to "meet" you. I'm brand new here and super excited... I've had a middling interest in body-building since the beginning of the year, and have kind of been stumbling my way through a great many learning experiences, plus a few flops and falls along the way. My interest began due to my poledancing... which I love... but which you need to be very strong for. So I started investigating weight-training and got a baby body builder's program designed for me (the 12-10-8-6 to fail plus two 12 rep super sets) with interval-based cardio and nutrition. I'm a confessed hedonist with a love of over-indulgence so diet has been the hardest part for me which means I have not managed the fat loss I desire. Four weeks ago I started up again with greater dedication, committing myself to not drinking alcohol apart from one day a week, and maintaing as high-protein, gluten-free diet as possible with minimal simple carbs. I've also been keeping a daily food diary with weekly mini goals which has been hugely helpful, although I have had a few slip-ups. I am seeing a nutritionist this week to get further advice - at the moment there isn't enough fibre in my diet and my desire to strip fat is stronger than ever but I need professional advice! Oh and did I forget to mention? Strict vego, almost vegan. I was a super strict vegan a few years back but my love of yummy cheeses swayed me from that path. Except on cheat days, though, I try to keep the dairy out. I am female, 26 (officially 21, shhh), measurements 35 28 36, and would greatly value advice from all you fabulous people out there and am really looking forward to participating in this community! sydneyvegan
Hey, Great to see another Sydney Vegan (or almost vegan) on here...Maybe you could replace Cheese with some of the great Vegan cheese alternatives that are out there, much better for you....There are some great Vegan ice cream alternatives as well, Green Gourmet in Newtown even has Vegan Deep Fried Ice Cream... Yum....
princessbee
I LOVE Green Gourmet! They really make beautiful food. I used to get all the not meat products and such from Vegan's Choice and would scour the various health food shops for new Vegan choices from abroad. I notice Coles at Broadway have a good variety nowadays, as well as many gluten free options, of course this still doesn't make them healthy choices albeit delicious ones. Soy cheeses are mostly just fat, same with soy yoghurt... soy and sugar. But I used to love that onion and garlic soy cheese melted on a toasted sandwhich... sooooooooooo bad for you and yet so very delicious I notice it doesn't seem to be on the market anymore...? It is nice to see another Sydneysider, are you a body builder too?
sydneyvegan
Hey Green Gourmet, has great food.... I buy a lot of stuff from Vegan's choice too, I like the sauces and stuff as well, the Laksa paste is really good Coles at broadway is getting better all the time and it is cheaper than healthfood shops.... The GNC healthfood place on Glebe point road is worth a look as well, as they have lots of stuff that is hard to get elsewhere, like nutritional yeast and agave nectar etc....I tend to go for the tofutti cream cheese and add my own flavours to it, like sun dried tomatoes and basil.... yum.... there are some good Vegan cheese receipes around that taste pretty good as well...I think there is about 3 or 4 sydney siders on here now... YAY GO SYDNEY I guess I'm sort of a body builder, I'm just not that good at getting my bodyfat down
princessbee
I can sympathise with that absolutely... body fat is my main goal at the moment. I am pleased with how my muscle tone is developing but my diet needs something (including me sticking to it a bit better!) to help me along. Seeing a nutritionist on Friday and hoping that will help! sydneyvegan
I've got a similar goal at the moment as I am in a cutting phase, I'm getting there, but still got a little way to go...I just try and think of something that motivates me to stick to my diet, like the fact that the weather is warming up and I want to be able to work it on the beach, lol...... It will be interesting what the nutritionist has to say, you will have to post what they say....
princessbee
I'm also crossing my fingers for some good advice from people here to my post in the nutrition forum. Already I am picking some stuff up from some of the articles and such on the main site. I am only into the beginning of my fifth week of my new approach and I'm giving it twelve before I expect to see any significant results... but I wish it would happen overnight. I need to stay more focused too. Will definitely update on what the nutritionist says.

Tigress
Cheese if full of fat whatever source you get it from, so I would think you would want to be cutting it from your diet if your goal is to cut bodyfat.
princessbee
Hi there Tigress - yes, that's what I said in my intro - that I love yummy cheeses but try to keep them out of my daily diet. Usually I just reserve them for treats. Hi Flanders - thanks for the welcome! I can hardly believe I found this forum!
