My journey to looking hotter at 30 than I did at 20

Recommended Posts

As the title of this journal/blog states..... I want to look hotter at 30 (which is in June ahhhhhhhh ) than I did at age 20. I've had 2 kids since 20 and gained a disgusting amount of weight. I'm only 5'4 and...

My lightest I've been was 48kg (105lbs) - pre kids

My heaviest I've been was 94kg+ (207lbs) - whilst pregnant.

I'm currently sitting on 70kg (154lbs)

My end goal is 53.9kg (118lbs)

At the moment though my mini goal is to reach 65kg (143lbs) as a starting point.

What am I doing about it.....

Currently it's all just diet (no exercise) as I've recently dislocated my knee and torn ligaments from it, barely walking let alone doing anything remotely aerobic. And well perhaps it's excuses, excuses but working on just arms does not appeal to me at all (so if anyone has any suggestions of exercises I can do for now (that dosn't include bending the knee or weight bearing on my leg, I would love to hear them).

Have you tried swimming? I know going near a pool can be treacherous for some when we're not happy with our bodies to begin with, but...if there's a way to maybe go during off-use-times, it might be worth a shot.?

I am post-surgery and have been amazed at the motion my ankle is okay with in the water - whereas outside of it...not so much :)

You could also do things in the water like use the floaty thing that you hold with your thighs and then swim with your arms - this way you're kind of using your whole body - though in reality you're really just powered by your arms.

Other than that, core - there are a lot of core options that can be done with straight legs (e.g. superman banana).. leg lifts (also straight, NWB)...back/butt exercises like laying on your stomach and makeshift swimming (flutter kick (straight leg) with arms straight in front fluttering as well...

Good luck.

So I got clearance from the hospital on Thursday to start at the gym again doing very basic things like elliptical trainer (no bike yet). As a start though I thought I would try walking down the road to the shops, it was a little painful walking home and swelled a small amount that night, but it felt really really good to get out and walk.

Went to the skate rink this morning, desperate to strap my skates back on grrr but instead I was watching. You'd think I would be safe standing in a corner at the end of the rink on the seating side of the barrier away from everyone. But noooo I got nailed by a kid right into the back of the achilles tendon which caused my knee to buckly. How on earth this kid managed to hit me is beyond me. Small step backwards I guess but I will get there eventually I guess.

Hey Miss E! I love the title of your journal, as my goal is to look hotter at 40 than at 20! Hahaha! I have 4.5 years till then, so we'll see how it goes.

Sorry to hear about your injuries, but think it's awesome that your mind is in the game, so to speak. Watch out for those kids!

Hang in there, and just keep doing as much as you can do! You'll be a smokin' hot 30-year old!

It's those numbers isn't it, the milestones that make you want to give yourself a kick up the bum, 20, 30, 40 Glad to hear from someone else the same goal in mind

I've reached a little hiccup in my journey, I tore my meniscus this week Just when I thought I was healing well I go and do that grrrrr.

On a positive though my weightloss is going well by just diet. I am now at 151lbs (68.5kg). (My goal is for 1kg loss per week).

That's great! Congratulations! I'm referring to your weightloss, of course, not the torn meniscus! I don't know what the meniscus is, to be honest. Maybe there is a Google search in my immediate future!

Keep at it! And you should keep posting in your journal here for the encouragement and accountability.

Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement Kareno

PS. The meniscus is like the cushioning between your knee joints.
