JW's Biggest Loser Contest at work

I thought I'd start using the training journal section to log my weight-loss quest.

 

My work is putting on a contest based on the TV show The Biggest Loser.

The top 3 people with the largest % of bodyweight lost will win some nice prize packages.

 

We started May 14th and I weighed in at 246 LBS

I lost 8.5 LBS in my first week (mostly water no doubt)

My last weigh-in was last Wednesday at 233 LBS

 

I've taken up running again which has historically melted the pounds away on me.

Tonight I ran my first longer run of 45 minutes.

My ankle is a bit sore but not terribly so.

 

The final weigh-in for the contest is June 29th

Good luck! How are the other people in the contest doing? btw, I really enjoy the tv show.

There is one guy who seems to be losing a lot of weight. 3 weeks in a row he has lost 5LBS

He doesn;t really do much exercise, he has just cut down his food consumption.

 

I like the show too .

I wasn't sure about it at first because I was worried that it would be a bit of a freakshow (making fun of the overweight people) but they have done the show very tastefully.

 

I kind of miss Jillian Michaels though (I liked her "bootcamp" approach)

Nasty run tonight!! It was very hot and humid out.

Again, I kinda liked it!

 

weird huh?

 

finished my route in 36:37 and felt very strong. Sweaty, but strong!

 

If my ankle can hold up, I see no reason why I couldn't go back to the half-marathon distance.

I was thinking of running with those wheelie shoes that the kids wear. That way I could coast half the course

Thanks, I don't know why but I just love the feeling of running.

I really should make sure I don't get carried away. (opening for vegan potter here....)

It's extremely hot and humid here again.

Believe it or not I'm just going out for a run right now. Even my kids think I'm nuts

another sweaty one!!!

 

35 minutes. It really didn't feel like 35. I feel like my speed is coming back.

The heat and humidity make it pretty tough though.

 

I was originally going to hit the weights tonight but I just couldn't resist the chance to have another sweat filled workout in the humidity.

 

I'm at that point where I fell like my body is getting pretty toned EXCEPT for my gut!!!! So true that it is the last thing to go. I know that if I am consistent I'll see the results. It's frustrating nevertheless

I am sooooooooo tired today.

The combination of running last night plus my wife's plane being delayed until 1:00 a.m. has just wiped me right out.

I'll either take a day off tonday or do weights.

 

Weighed in this morning at 231

I've lost 15 LBS so far with 2 and a half weeks to go!

I decided to do a dumbell workout last night.

3x18 curls, shoulder press, bench, shrugs

2x12 tricep kickbacks

3x15 incline pushups

 

Did a few sets of crunches this morning.

 

Looking forward to a run tonight.

 

I haven't been on the bike for a while. I'll probably start riding to work again as soon as I catch up on my sleep. (I've been up late for the last week)

I'm a happy guy this morning!!!!

Had an awesome run last night. I decided to test out the speed and aI absolutely destroyed my previous times on my route!!!

I was shocked at how much faster I went!

 

I completed my route in 29:07 versus my usual 35-36 minutes.

The best thing is... I think I could have gone faster!

 

I finished off with a slothlike 6 minutes to get me to my 35 minute desired time.

Very busy weekend but I got a couple runs in of 31 & 32 minutes.

I rode my bike in to work today which felt real good.

Treated myself to a small bowl of soy ice cream last night (my Father's day gift to myself)... don't even feel THAT guilty.........

 

It was a lot of fun running this weekend. On Saturday I ran with my son and on Sunday with my daughter. It was so great to share a run together and just talk about "stuff". It was probably a little less intensity than I would have normally done but who cares!

 

My next weigh-in is Wednesday. I have an overwhelming urge to weigh myself this morning for some reason.

 

11 days until the final weigh-in!

Decided to take it easy last night. I was feeling pretty tired and sore.

Funny, I was feeling this strange muscle pain in my upper body and I couldn't figure out why as I haven't hit the weights since Friday.

Then it dawned upon me that I was playing the Wii system for a couple hours on the weekend.

This leads me to believe they need to start another contest...Biggest Loser Off the Clock

A couple times I've had sore arms from playing Guitar Hero.

 

I'm such a dork!

 

Looks like we need a new thread

I play Dance Dance revolution with the kids too!

I'm sure guitar hero is in my future also.....
