If you do strength training in the morning, make sure you eat a good breakfast (with complex carbohydrates) before you work out.
If its cardio, do it on something light like a carrott.
I personally work out 3 to 4 hours after I wake up. If I do it in the morning, I can still be pretty intense even without food, but thats just me.
As for your body being "warmed-up" at night as you put it, thats not actually true. Depending on your sleeping schedule (if its regular), more than likely you will have less energy at night.
