Thanks for the link!
I think that Silva should retire and get some Jenny Craig.

How much did Fedor earn for 40 seconds of "work?"

40 seconds of work? Obviously that doesn't even come close to counting the months of training 3 times a day to prepare for a fight. These guys put a lot of time and effort into preparing for fights. It ain't easy.

I don't like Tim Sylvia one bit, but I think that's just the guy's genetic makeup. I'm not sure he'll ever be a ripped or jacked HW, regardless he's still probably a top 5 HW. No shame in losing to the best in the world. But there is shame in being a hick who always brags about killing animals with high power weapons.

Probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 million. Which is deserved when you're the #1 HW and fighter in the world. I'd love to see him fight Couture next, but I think Fedor easily wins that one too regardless of how good of a gameplan Randy creates for his fights.

The thing is I'm not sure Fedor has any glaring weaknesses. He's defeated Brazlian Jiu Jitsu wizards, Olympic caliber wrestlers, and top K-1 kickboxers. I'm not sure if he'll ever legitimately lose a fight, the guy seems barely human, it's a pleasure to watch him every time he fights.

I think Affliction has a bright future in the fight promotion business, I hope people continue to support it!

I am sad to say that his age will be his greatest obstacle. He is closing in on 45 :( and will be facing a one of a kind fighter who I think is in his early 30's? That being said I definately want to see that fight. :D

Fedor is like 32, and yeah Couture is 45 I think. But "The Natural" defies age. He comes into his fights in better shape than most of his opponents who are around 10+ years younger than him and he always has a great gameplan. With that said I think Fedor would destroy him but I'd love to see that fight regardless too, just so it goes down as the biggest MMA Heavyweight matchup ever.

listening to the post fight interviews on sherdog, I was not encouraged to here silva say he has never been hit that hard.

I think you have made my point, if couture was fedors age then the fight would be fair. I am very successful against kids half my age, I m 44, but if I had to meet the me of 32 I would destroy the older me. I dont question Randys fitness, just his ablilty to take on not jsut a younger fighter, but a greatest one his has probably ever faced too.

I will still be rooting my ass off for him though.

Just clarifying to other posters I'm pretty sure you mean Sylvia, not Silva. The reason I'm saying that to those who aren't hardcore MMA fans may not realize that an Anderson Silva was fighting in a different organization than the one Fedor was fighting in, against Tim Sylvia.

And no, I truly believe a Couture in his 40's beats a Couture in his early to mid 30's. He's one of those fighters who got significantly better with time. I wouldn't even really root for Couture, in the end I think I like Fedor more.

But do you fight?

Thank you for clarifying the Silva , Sylvia mistake I often do that.

I want to be clear, I dont want Couture when he was 32 I want couture at 32. Exposed to the same stimulus as Fedor. Training , advancments in nutrition etc.

Also it is generally and ofcourse there are exceptions which couture may be one, that a man reaches his physical peak between 30 and 35. Though I do not have any references at this time. I dont believe that his ability to create a satisfactorily game plan would be compromised at that age. Ofcourse I pick 32 as that is Fedors age.

No I do not fight in an organized manner, I was referring to other athletic endeavors I have engaged in.

I would root for Randy because he is old like me.

As a seperate issue , it is Sylvia not Silva

i loved this PPV. overall, i think it was better than the free UFC fight night. i was glad to see Vitor Belfort and Lil Nog both take in decisive wins by KO. Babalu put on a great fight w/ Mike Whitehead. i liked the Arlovski's return to form. Ben Rothwell withstood 2 rds of Arlovski's punishment, which is to say alot. but in the 3rd it was just too much for him. most people would have gone down much earlier. Josh Barnett got his revenge in his rematch with Pedro Rizzo with another great KO. he is also great for providing good soundbites in the post fight interviews. with his charisma he could be a big star.

and of course the main event did not disappoint. i didn't expect the fight to end so early. to see a top 5 contender stopped so fast, it's no wonder why Fedor is the #1 ranked heavyweight in the world. he made it look so easy. i hope they put on another PPV soon.

and i loved seeing Fedor and Randy expressing their mutual hopes of fighting by the end of the year. sadly i don't think it will happen. Randy's next battle is in the courtroom, and i don't think his problems with the UFC contract will be solved by the end of the year. so it's more likely Fedor will face Arlovski or Barnett, which i would also love to see. but here's hoping that Randy Couture is next in line.

what is the argument about I thought he was simply waiting for his contract to end?

which I thought was going to happen soon.

according to this, Tim Sylvia actually made much more money than the guy who defeated him.

Fedor Emelianenko ($300,000/no win bonus) def. Tim Sylvia ($800,000)

something about that seems very wrong. :?

well the way i hear it, the argument is what stipulates the end of the contract. Randy Couture signed a 2 yr/4 fight contract with UFC. Randy fought only twice. so Dana White states he still owes the UFC 2 more fights before the contract is over. Randy considers the contract over at the end of the 2 years, which is in october. if Randy announces his contract is over and he agrees to fight Fedor, the UFC will serve papers that state he still owes them 2 fights and must fight in the UFC. then that matter will have to be settled in court. which could take months. let's hope it doesn't come to that, because i want to see this fight as much as anyone else.
