the autopsy is pending. here are the initial reports, from Sherdog.com:

"Tanner, 37, had embarked on a camping trip some time around Sept. 2 into the desert-like region north of Brawley, Calif., approximately two and a half hours east of San Diego.

...the fighter had texted friends in Oceanside as late as Thursday, telling them that he'd run out of water and gas for his motorcycle. Authorities were then contacted to try and locate the fighter.

A body believed to be that of Evan Tanner was found Monday in the Palo Verde mountain area, the Imperial Valley Press has reported".

RIP, Evan.

I never met him but felt like I knew him; something about him shined, in and out of the ring.

If you haven't checked out Evan's writings, and interviews, check it out; Evan was into cleansing, metaphysics, nature, philosophy, and kindness, among other things.

He was definitely an inspiration for coming back from the setbacks, ups and downs of life, for many, including myself.

Btw, I just read on a post on sherdog.com that dfsstore.com has team tanner "believe in the power of one" t-shirts for sale, with profits going to pay for his funeral (i just ordered one).

I hadn't heard about this til just now. That sucks.

Apparently he ran out of water and was trying to get to a spring which turned out to be dried up. Official cause of death is listed as heat exposure.
