Ryofire
Anyone ever try it, have experiance with it, or know about it? I'm curious because I do practice Hung Gar, which is more facing your apponent head on martial art. Parkour is good because heaven forbid you need to avoid a situation and get away from something as much as possibe. BTW I'm no expert at it and do not know everything about it myself. That's why I started this thread.
BJJVegan
Parkour is awesome! My first taste of it was after watching a documentary called "Jump London." Its amazing stuff really. If I wasnt afraid of jacking myself up and stopping me from training in BJJ then I would be all into it. Anybody that hasnt seen this stuff needs to look it up! First, what do you exactly mean by "if I wasn't afriad of jacking myself up?" I guess it all depends on your goals right? Second, I'm pretty sure you've seen this video right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVQNt64PxfE
RAINRA
I first saw Parkour back when the movie came out in France YAMAKAZI. It was so cool. I think it is awesome. I tried basic stuff. I never got to do flips. I like climbing more. It is a great art if your good at it and very useful. I have not see how it impacts the body on the long term. I still love watching it! BJJVegan
Well by jacking myself up I mean getting hurt. I train brazilian jiu jitsu and muay thai. I'm going to be fighting soon and I would just be afraid of increasing the chance of hurting myself even more.
Ryofire
To answer both your questions. I think it all depends how you do. it. I know a friend of mine who's a dancer told me a couple of times how to properly land. That you have to keep in mind also. Proper stretching is also a must too, as well as proper muscular and cardiovascular fitness. I think that's with anything, It comes in handy though when practicing martial arts, because heaven forbid a group of guys jump you or someone pulls out a knife or a gun on you. I forget who said it, but "the less you sweat in the gym, the less you bleed on the battlefield."
BJJVegan
Very good point on the being able to run. I mean its one thing to be fast but if you can run up a wall then you kinda have one up on the guys.

Ryofire
So is parkour something you're thinking about learning or is it just something super sweet to watch for you? I only know how to do some basic things with Parkour. So to answer your question, yes, I would love to learn more about Parkour. It's fun to watc, but if you are properly conditioned right it's even more fun to do it.
RAINRA
Parkour taking classes with American Parkour "The Tribe" bunch of guys ... learning pretty fast. It is getting me up and over obsicles. Last week we did 42" vaults... 3.5 feet which is higher than a typical handrail. Average hand rail code requires the height to be in between 32" and 34". Some of the teachers or people who show up are in this clip ... I did not know that D.C. was a big parkour area...
