overall after day 1...not much changed cause yesterday was a prologue time trial and todays race was super flat so everyone stuck together.

there were a LOT of crashes though....if anyone want to know/ understand how they time cycling races let me know, i'll explain because sometimes someone will cross the finish line a few minutes after the winner and get the same time.

super good day of racing....5 hills and it was raining, a bunch of crashes. plus with the hills there was finally racing for the king of the mountains jersey!!! racers finishing 2nd - 120th all received the same time @ 3'56" behind the leader...sylvain chavanel took off from the beginning and was not chased down, he rode crazy hard on the hills to take the win and the yellow jersey.

crazy day on the cobblestones...just watching races that go over cobbles make my legs hurt. the yellow jersey leader had 3 flat tires and lot his 3 minute lead. there were countless crashes and frank shleck crashed hard today and is out, suxor. garmen slipstream was slammed yesterday and lost christian vandevelde. lance lost some time because of the crashed but rode hard and made up ground at the end. the front group had candellara and saxo bank pushed him into the lead!!! Andy Schleck was a stud today too and he would have to be the favorite after 3 for the GC. Cadel Evans rode had as well.

not much going on today...super flat stage, there was a breakaway but they were caught with about 4 miles to go...flat stages usually nothing exciting until the finish, most of the time i just fast forward and watch for crashes or breakaways until the end. the finish was good, cavendish was a punk so that was nice to see him give up, i hate him. was hoping for thor hushovd but petacchi winning is ok too... nothing changed in the GC or the jerseys, so i'm only posting the sprint results, see above if you want to know jerseys or standings.

another flat day for the sprinters, pretty boring until the end. i thought the breakaway would actually stay away but they were caught with a few miles to go as they are 9 out of 10 times. no crashes was nice to see for a change, give the riders a break. the sprint at the end was good except stupid mark cavendish won. the mountain stages are getting closer, thats when the real racing begins!!!

jerseys are still the same and no changes in the overall standings so see above if you want to know the leaders or jerseys.

the race started today....the mountains killed some, and andy schleck was just waiting to attack. astana pushed the front and spread the field out all over the mountain. cadel evans moved into the overall lead, but andy looked so strong. also glad to see denis menchov, ivan basso and levi leipheimer up there so high. lance was brought down by 2 crashes, he is going to be pretty much done baring a miracle, he'll probably ride to support levi now.

Of course theres a big day when the stupid world cup is on and I cant watch.

What the heck happened to Chavanel?

I saw Pineau crash, how did he end up doing?

chavanel bonked, he went so hard and rode so good for a few days, he just couldnt keep up....pineau i was hoping would keep the KOTM, but the casse guys rode hard today.

I posted this on cyclingnews today.

We are seeing more and more towards the shift to a plant based diet ever since Carl Lewis employed Dr McDougall to help him increase his athletic performance. Dr McDougall put Lewis on a vegan diet.

http://www.earthsave.org/lifestyle/carllewis.htm

Chiara Evans recently said on her blog she uses soy instead of dairy for Cadel 'cos its lighter!'

Mark Cavendish in his book 'boy racer' talks about how come he doesnt eat meat or dairy.

Team Garmin made the switch to more gluten free plant based products.

Basso says he doesnt eat "eggs, omeletes or anything like that.."

Lance put his name on the back of Rip Esselstyn's book 'the engine2 diet' (Its a hardcore vegan health book)

And good knows what Levi is thinking! He openly calls himself a vegetarian and does activism work for http://www.peta.org

http://blog.peta.org/archives/levi_leipheimer/

What is the peleton coming too!
