Need Picture Feedback and Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I've never posted any kind of progress photos on here, but I wanted to throw some up and maybe get some feedback. I also wanted to get a feeling of whether or not I had any chance at the muscle competitions this May. I've really wanted to participate in that ever since I saw the last one (I wasn't even on the board at the time).

I have ABSOLUTELY NO EXPERIENCE posing. Everything I know, I pretty much picked up from watching Giacomo's vlogs. Hahaha.

I would appreciate any an all comments. I still think I have a LONG way to go, but am pretty happy about my gains so far.

I'd say go for the competitions! It's all about the fun and friendly competition. It gets everyone motivated and training harder. Now... SICKLY AWESOME CALVES!!!!

Other than that I don't know what you're doing but I'd train to bring out the pecs, lats and biceps a bit more. You don't seem to be prone to gain fat, that's awesome. Got a nice frame, just keep working on it!

Yo dude, I think you look in good shape, should definitely join in the competitions. Calf looks great, do you have more photos of them? Fat levels look great, good definition, should soon have 6-pack popping out all over the place.

Your right bicep looks bigger than your left, not sure if it's just the camera angle. Obviously depends on what your goals are, but if you want to be symmetrical, you'll need to balance the training off from the right a little to allow the left to catch up, I had same thing happen to me before. Smile!

I think it is because his left upper arm is rotated somewhat forward compared to the right in the picture.

Anyway, looks like a solid foundation to build on .

Thanks for all the great feedback dudes! Glad I'm getting calf feedback. They were always good in high school when I was on the track team, but they totally disappeared once I went to college and then got an office job. I'm sure the muscle memory helped in getting them back.

The camera angle on the biceps may be off a bit, but the left is definitely smaller. When I take measurements it's typically 1/4 inch smaller. I definitely will work on that.

@Lena01: Definitely gotta work on pecs more, I had trouble figuring out what worked for me, but I think I have a handle on it now. Any notice I didn't put any back picture up? My back sucks. I'll admit that in a second. Giacomo gave me a great routine to slaughter my back, so I think that'll be my project for this year.

@Richard: I'll have to get my girlfriend to help me out with more calf pictures. It was kind of a pain in the ass to try to flex and take a picture at the same time. Any yeah, can't wait for my first six pack. hahaha.

Do you do overhead tricep extensions? Need to get a fuller long head on your tricep to match the bicep (for symmetry purposes).

Second on the pectorals too. Work on that cleavage baby! Flyes are always good with a wide stretch at the bottom to fully engage the pectoralis major, sternocostal head. You could also step forward a bit when doing cable crossovers too.

When doing the front double bicep pose, you need to lower your shoulders a bit. Take a breath, then on the exhale try to do a lat pulldown but keep your arms where they are. Your shoulder blades will come together in the back, and your neck will elongate to its natural relaxed form.

Need a leg shot too (to go with the nice calves - which has a dominant medial head, need to work the lateral/outside head of the gastrocnemius) in addition to the back pose shot.

Another vegan bodybuilder to the group! Even if you are not in your 'peak', go for a show just to get a feel for the way they work. It is another whole dimension to do a show, than just working out at the gym and looking good. You also have to be a performer and please the judges, who are influenced by the crowd. And how to display your assets, with a certain confidence that projects. Posing is hard work, but you need to make it look easy and sexy.

Wow, thanks for such great DETAILED feedback and suggestions. Thanks a lot for the posing tips and such specific exercise suggestions and what muscles to try to hit. I was thinking about including a leg shot, but my quads aren't where I'd like them to bet just yet. After I put in some more work, I'll definitely post them up along with back shots. I've had people before tell me I should try doing a show. I might someday, but I don't think I really have the money right now. Maybe I'll join LeanandGreen next year at something. Raw Vegans represent! Haha.

Did some overhead triceps extensions today, so we'll see how that goes. I'm working on lowering my bodyfat right now, so we'll see if I can't get a bit more ripped for the contest. Once again, that's for all the great feedback everybody!
