Splitting a thread

#1 Postby veginator » Tue Jul 15, 2008 5:23 pm

I have a question about an issue that surely comes up a lot. If a discussion goes off on a tangent that's clearly unrelated to the original thread, is there a way to move the discussion to a new thread without just starting from scratch? In other words, is it possible to, for example, quote and reply to a previous message, but put the reply in an entirely new thread? Thanks!

Jeff

Press Quote-button. Remove anything unrelated from between the [quote]-tags. Then copy (Ctrl + c) the text with the [quote]-tags. Go to the sub-forum you want to make the new thread. Push the "New topic"-button and paste (Ctrl + v) the text into the message field. Reply like you'd normally do and write the Subject. It might also be polite to tell, from which topic the original text is from.

e. And if the thread already exist, just go to that thread, push the "post reply"-button and paste the text, tell where it's from and reply to the quote.

Thanks! I thought something like that would probably work, but I figured I may as well ask and find out for sure.
