Glucosamine: Vegan or not?

#1 Postby RileyG » Mon May 23, 2005 1:04 pm

"Glucosamine is a natural seafood extract derived from crab shells"

Vegan or not? I'm guessing not.

Just picked up a bottle of vegan glucosamine last week at the local health food store, complete with vegan capsules!!!

If you can't find them locally, go to www.veganessentials.com

L-Glutamic Acid

Does anyone know if L-Glutamic Acid is the same as L-Glutamine. I would suspect they are different because the name is different, but I don't know.

They are both amino acids, but are not the same.

L Glutamic acid is used for metabolic and energy production, brain function, and immune system. It is converted into L Glutamine in the liver when combined with vitanime B6.

L-Glutamic Acid

Would it be better to take L-Glutamine or do you think I am getting the same benefits with L-Glutamic Acid?

L Glutamine is what you want. Glutamic Acid turns into Glutamine, so your best bet is to stay with L Glutamine.
