nickybunny1
Hi everyone. I am trying so hard to be vegan as well as tryin to overcome a sugar addiction. I have been vegetarian for around 10 years and this past 18 months have tried to be vegan. Did 80 10 10 for best part 6 months but always felt hungry and bloated. I loved the principles of it but it wasn't for me. In the past I have lost weight doin low carb vegetarian and felt better with high fat and protein but not low enough for ketosis. Obviously now trying to be vegan it is hard to do low carb without a lot of grains. I don't eat soy products either and fruit is wrecking my blood sugar. As a result I am now binge eatting on non vegan buns and chocolate. I know i need more protein in my diet especially breakfast. Does anyone have any ideas for a high protein breakfast and a meal replacement shake I could use as well. I need to loose around 14 lbs of fat but have a moderate amount of muscle. I tried to make seitan twice but it came out really squidgy. It just seems the more I cut out of my diet to be healthier the heavier and more binge prone I have become. Any ideas would be really welcome.
multipass
hey, i recently found one that i really like so im gonna throw this out there. quoted from http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=946180&page=1 If anyone is having a hard time eating oats or getting in enough calories, sttop and listen to this post. Grinding steel cut oats up in a coffee grinder and throwing them in a shake is by far the easiest way to slam them down and not to mention you can make some extremely cheap weight gainer shakes that are very healthy. Step 1:Buy a coffee grinder. They are cheap and you can buy them almost anywhere. I bought one at Target but anyplace like Walmart will have them. Here's an example: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B000BRLXUI Step 2:Go to this website and use the store locator to find a retailer close to you to purchase this product. This stuff is gold. 560 calories per cup and the store by my house sells it for .99 cents a pound! https://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog/...product_ID=279 Look at the nutritional value on this stuff: Nutritional Information forSteel Cut OatsServing Size 1/4 cup(40g)Servings Per Container 17.00Calories 140.00Calories from Fat 25.00Total Fat 2.50gSaturated Fat 0.50gTrans Fat 0.00gCholesterol 0.00mgSodium 0.00mgTotal Carbohydrate 27.00gDietary Fiber 4.00gSugars 0.00gProtein 6.00gIngredients whole grain oats Step 3:Grind oats up with coffee grinder and throw them in your favorite shake. If they oats are took thick in your shake just add more milk/water. EVERY day I have serveral of the following shakes. 16oz ice cold skim milk1/2 cup ground steel cut oats1 scoop of ON whey (chocolate) 571 calories77 grams of carbs53 grams of protein7 grams of fat. Obviously you can experiment with whatever you want to throw in there. Any fruits, peanut butter, etc etc. work perfectly. Talk about a cheap, high quality shake that is easy to make and takes under a minute to drink. the one i make is:1/2 cup steel cut oats1 cup fruit(half a banana/berries etc)2/4 serving pea protein1/4 serving hemp protein1/4 serving brown rice protein2 caps digestive enzymesthen fill it up with water(could use rice/almond/hemp milk too) around 450 calories, could be more or less easily depending just grind up the oats to a powder and throw it all in a blender.. and you have a quick healthy meal
Vegercize
I've made squidgy seitan before... but to save it I cooked it in the pan as usual then I put the pieces in a 400degree oven for 10-12 mins. They dried up (probably too much) but they still tasted pretty good... even better cold the next day This was the recipe I used http://www.theppk.com/2010/11/doublebatch-chickpea-cutlets/ I assume I used too much liquid, so next time I will be more careful.
