As vegansludge said, its not about being male/female but you as an individual. Workout the number of calories you need to maintain your weight then add on 200. Weighing and calculating your food is boring - but ensuring you get your protein requirements and not over (or under) eating will see you gain with the best muscle/fat ratio. Regular consistent weigh in's allow you to check that you're on track. As soon as you stop gaining - eat more.
Bodybuilding is nowhere near as complicated as people make out!
