cobalamin
Lentils nutrition page on nutrition data states that 100g of lentils contains 9g of protein however it states 4g of protein on the canned lentils I purchased.
beforewisdom
First thing to do is to make sure you are comparing equal portions. There could be many possible reasons for a discrepency - different equipment used by different groups to take the meaurements - different samples grown in a different qualities of soil giving the samples different nutrition. itsjustrobbieok
What are they canned in?
cobalamin
100g portions were compared. Dry lentils contain 26g of protein per 100g portion and double in weight when soaked, 13 grams of protein per 100g portion? Is the protein lost when cooked? Is there a difference between small and large lentils? How to tell if lentils are undercooked? What are they canned in?The ingredients or the type of can? Ingredients are lentils, water, salt and ascorbic acid. What do I need to look out for?
jungleinthefrunk
cooked vs. dry. the ones in the can have a different fluid content volume etc. probably. dry ones have less volume so the same volume of them would have more nutrients/cals etc then the canned in the same measurement.
