GGreen
I am new to fruitarianism and trying to understand how one can just live on a fruit diet. my questions are: Do fruits supply all the essential amino acids?Do fruits supply all the essential fatty acids(omega3/6)?Do fruits supply your minerals and vitamins needs?Doesn't a fruit diet raise your blood glucose?Does a fruit diet provide you with enough protein for body building and enough protein just in general? Are there any long-term healthy fruitarians?Don't fruitarians face nutritional deficiencies because of thier restrictive diet?Aren't fruits high on organic acid, which isn't good for you? Not sure, but don't fruits break down into sugar fast resulting in short-term energy and increasing hungry? Isn't too much sugar bad for you? According to my understanding fruits are simple carbohydrates but rank low on the glycemic index (which is good.) Simple carbohydrates are supposedly bad for you in excess and should only be consumed in moderation. Aren't complex and low glycemic index carbohydrates better for you than simple ones because they are high in fibre and nutrition and convert into sugar slowly creating balanced energy. CollegeB
I heard a personal trainer at the gym a few weeks ago tell the person he was helping, that fruit is empty calories. Where does one get an idea like that?

As soon as people/experts started pressuring me into eating greens,etc....I started feeling crap!!!!
GGreen
Doesn't a fruit diet increase your weight if you are concerned about your weight? Why? because your body digests fruits (simple sugar) fast because there is less molecules to breakdown resulting you constantly feeling hungry and not full. You end up eating more and storing more calories to burn. bottom line fruits don't provide long term energy. How do fruitarian counter this saying "Eat Simple Carbohydrates (fruit) in moderation" which many doctors and experts tell us.
CollegeB
Many doctors and experts believe meat is an essential part of diet, what they say pretty much lacks validity.
seand
try it for yourself for 30 days and don't listen to anyone else... what's the worst that could happen? then share
Guest
Your not gonna get fat eating just fruit unless you scarf down 5 bananas before you go to bed every day for a couple weeks...theres so much fiber that aids in digestion that its not an issue...plus you've gotta look at the kind of sugar...not all fruits have the same glycemic index
Odidnetne
Fruit gets a bad rap like that, but it's an independent monosaccharide (spelling?), and eating them won't affect your blood sugar like say, breads & pastas.

belleadonna
I read somewhere that fruits are already a predigested food and full of enzymes therefore SAVING the body's energy by not having to break it down. Therefore, this should give you more energy, not less.
Raw Ambition
I highly doubt that any amount of fruit will make you fat. I've had ALOT of fruit in my diet, and it all it did was make me LEAN! P A R T Why? cuz I gotta!

P A R T Why? cuz I gotta! Exactly. I've eaten as much as 20 servings of fruit in one day (on top of other things, veggies, grains, etc.), and one friend of mine said that I was crazy and that the carbs and sugar was going to make me fat...::Looks at his 6 pack abs:: I don't think so. veganbarbie
I just learned and I didnt know this, but Adam and Eve were created to be frutarians, thus we all are!! How cool! I have a question though, I heard a few things about fruitarians I want to clear up. I heard a fruit is anything with a visable seed, and the fruitarians can eat anything that can be picked from a plant with out killing the plant. So a pepper would qualify??? A tomato?? Im confused and I would really like to try this fruitarian thing
lmmy
Nonsense, GGreen, I ate a primarily fruitarian diet (80% fruit) and didn't feel hungry at all throughout the day -- as opposed to when I would bring some sort of grain or starch to eat, and then I'd bemoan the fact that I had no more food fifteen minutes later!
