Cutting Robert Cheeke's Hair! - A fundraiser for causes

Cutting Robert’s Hair! – A fundraising event to shave my head!

My hair was on the line in my recent April 25, 2009 competition. The deal was, if Giacomo Marchese beat me on stage in the same weight class, he could shave my head. That didn’t happen, though I thought he should have beat me that day, just two weeks after we went head to head in Portland, OR in another contest I placed ahead of him. I thought I should have won clearly in Portland but in AZ, I really thought he was going to place ahead of me. The hair never came off and in fact I had the camera rolling after I showered and used a blow dryer to dry my long blonde hair to tactfully celebrate my placement ahead of him, keeping my hair he joked was coming off that day.

I still have the hair but since I really thought Giacomo should have placed ahead of me, I thought it would be a nice gesture to cut my hair off anyway. Then I decided that I don’t just want to cut it off, I want to hang onto it, do photo shoots, etc. But if it were to be cut off, I decided that I will donate it to cancer patients and I have a lot of hair to donate!

So now there are some reasons to cut my hair and some proposals have been put forth.

It has been proposed that we use my hair as a fundraiser for our Documentary, Vegan Brothers in Iron, which we’re still working hard to fund, while donating my hair to those who don’t have hair and would appreciate my pretty blond hair that has been the signature of my He-Man lifestyle as of late.

The idea proposed is that based on the feedback from http://www.veganbodybuilding.com members provided throughout the forum. Many people said they would be willing to pay for Robert’s hair to be cut! Many offered to donate money, pay for me to cut my hair, transport me to get my hair cut, etc. Well, now is your chance to pay for my hair to be cut while supporting our documentary, supporting cancer patients, all the while being able to see me go from Robio (like Fabio) to Baldio.

Since it is a fundraiser, we thought we’d cut off 1 inch per $50 donated. All the money will go towards funding Vegan Brothers in Iron, which should be one of the best vegan documentaries of the year when it comes out. My roommate Jessi measured my hair and most of my hair ranges in length from 13-18 inches so we decided 16 inches is the Official Length to be cut for me to have my head shaved! I’ll wait until the end of donations received over a month period before I cut it so I know how much is being cut and donated to those in need of hair, rather than cutting it off inch by inch and wasting these beautiful blond locks.

To make a donation to shorten my hair, make PayPal payments to [email protected]. We’ll keep a journal going immediately about this process with updates as payments come in to show how short my hair is getting and how close I am getting to having my head shaved!!!! Ahhh!

Many of you have been outspoken about my hair…you simply don’t like it long….now it’s time to put your money where your mouth is! And we look forward to it and appreciate the support!

Running Total is $0 as of 1 minute after posting newsletter.

This will be updated as funds come in to [email protected] via PayPal

I need money to get out of debt from filming a documentary and kids with cancer want hair, so it seems like a great fit.

I'm just at the point of becoming He-Man too with my long hair, my fake tan and large muscles and positive messages I spread all over North America but I think the time is right to do this fundraising project and I look forward to because it seems like a win-win-win situation and those are always my favorites.

The time is right and everyone benefits

Bring on the clippers!

Thanks for the donations so far! It means a lot and I know we've asked for a lot of donations lately, but trust us...this project will be really cool and will inspire countless of people and save many lives.

Thanks again!

Update on how many inches are gone so far soon.....stay tuned!

Yeah donating to locks of love for cancer patients is a cool thing to do. i did this last time I cut my hair, but I think they like to have it in a ponytail, and then you can just cut the ponytail off, and it's all wrapped up for them.. Who's cutting it anyway?

Cool!

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to contributing my hair! I haven't made a lot in donations yet, but that is OK. I hope to hit my total because the money goes towards paying for our documentary and we really need a lot more funds, but even if I don't get the funds I hope to get, I'll still cut the hair off to donate it. It is about 18 inches long in some parts! I'm not sure who will cut it but I'm thinking of shaving a V in the back of my head and dying it green for my next competition!!!

I really look forward to donating my pretty blond hair

It will feel really rewarding.

Yeah, that would be great!

I've been meaning to film a little YouTube video too, which I should do any day now....hoping to help generate some funds for our documentary in a fun way.

Let me know if there is enough info provided in my first post or if you need me to do a write-up.

I'm sure there are plenty of long-haired photos of me to choose from too But I can also select some if necessary.

Thanks!

Looking forward to donating it

I just wanna say I think you look great with long hair. You seriously look like Fabio! Heheheh.

It's good you're cutting it for a good cause though ^^

Rob should take a video of himself saying "I can't believe it's not Earth Balance." before that hair goes away.

Awesome!

Thanks so much!

I'm going to see if we raise enough before my next competition on July 11th. I'll either still have the long hair...or it will be all gone the next time I get on stage.....time will tell........

Thanks again!

So......I compete again on July 11th.

Will I have my long hair or a shaved head by then?

Fundraising will provide the answer....we're about $500 short of our goal of $800...if we hit that target before my contest, I'll have a shaved head on stage.....if not.....I continue to be a hippie !!!!
