Grazer's Progress

Recommended Posts

I figure I better jump in with both feet before I back out of it. Everyone here that has posted their progress to date has been very inspiring! Great work everyone. I've been vegan for around 18 years, was always in great shape up until a few years ago. Although I am very active in the summers (hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking), it is the winters that have taken their toll. Between working full time and going back to university part time, my schedule became a bit crazy. In one winter I went from 160 pounds to 184 pounds. I am currently sitting at around 173 pounds and gaining each week. I was involved in mixed martial arts for a number of years, but due to my schedule and a broken rib (re-injured 3 times in jiu jitsu) very little has been going on the past 6 years in that department. So, here I am, realizing that I am not in the shape I once was. And it was not until I took my own photos the other day that I realized how far I had let myself go. To stay motivated and inspired, I'm putting it all out there for everyone to see. Luckily I have the ability for gym workouts and will be starting back up with mixed martial arts soon. I hope that I see the improvement I'm hoping for.

Brief run down of stats:

35 years old

5'10" tall

173 pounds

Pictures below, I contemplated not posting these but I have to start somewhere I guess:

Six weeks since my last update. Bit of improvement, very long road ahead.

Increased protein consumption (mostly brown rice, a bit of hemp protein). Reduced food consumption at each meal. Increased water intake. Been doing P90X to get prepared for mma classes again since I've been out for a while. Will begin more weight training soon.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the delay... haven't been on for a bit. Training is going well, and improvements are quite fast and noticeable. The P90X really is a good initiation into being active again, and the muscle confusion they suggest seems to work well.

Still progressing relatively quickly, though results appear less drastic.

I am not aiming for bulk muscle, but rather lean muscle that will function in mma. I am seeking strength, speed, endurance, and limited lactic acid build up... so far so good, but still a long way away from my goals.

Good gains man. Were you pushing out your stomach in the first photo? I swear I'm not trollin', it just looks like it. I could be crazy.

Ouch! I wish I could say I was pushing it out. What I can say however is that I was not sucking it in, and definitely not pushing out. Wanted a true pic of where I was at without sucking in the excess (though I can't suck in love handles regardless!). I don't think I'd want to see a pic of me at that stage pushing it out!

Well, unfortunately another mma injury last spring and a summer away from weights has put me a bit behind... I was active with mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking etc., but now it is time to dust off these arms and legs and refocus on building strength for the winter. Will start back with P90X just to get back into a routine and ensure I initially have a regimented approach. Will start posting photos again as I make progress. My body tends to rebound quickly, so hopefully I'll be back on track and pick up where I left off within the month.
