I usually do:

one banana

two-three large collard leaves

1/2 cup berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or cherries)

one heaping scoop protein

tablespoon or two of flax

enough water to blend easily

Lately I've been adding about 1 T each of hemp butter and defatted peanut meal for more protein.

I don't measure anything bahaha

But I would say I put about a cup of spinach or kale, add 1 banana, 1/4 avacado, frozen blueberries (a handful) about 5 strawberries, and add some juice (I like a cranberry/blackberry blend) and a tbsp of hemp protein powder. This is a guesstimate

I have one every day.

Thank you Fallen_Horse! It's all done by a very old Sony digital camera (not professional).

I like my vegan meals presented in stylish fashion ! You wouldn't believe how many Balkan non-vegans I have talked into eating more grains, beans and vegetables with "glamour shots" of my food on my Facebook profile (translated from Serbian it's called "Healthy recipes" ). Now they want me to publish a cookbook Spreding the truth about veganism in a grilled-meat-eaters society

BTW, I've just drank a DELICIOUS smoothie! 5 peaches, 200 g frozen berries, 300 g spinach, some water, 4 tsp chia seeds. I'm not doing any exercises today, so I decided to go back to low fat raw vegan for one day I'm always happy when eating like this: fruits and green veggies are my favorite! So much energy (maybe not in calories, but directly from "The Source" as I would describe it). And so light in stomach.

A little necro here, but I have made a tasty smoothie!

1/2 c apple juice

1 c water

1 orange

50g (~1.8oz) spinach

3/4 c blueberries

1/2 banana

1/4 c almonds

You would think this is expensive, but the blueberries can be found frozen at a dollar store and the almonds can be bought by the pound or two pounds at Vitamin Cottage, King Soopers, etc. The apple juice is the only entry that I don't think is super healthy, but it helps to add a sweetener to smoothies, so I figure apple juice is the best of the 'bad'....

Anyway I don't think I have shared my 'usual' smoothie, so here it is!

1 banana

1.5 c blueberries

1/2 c orange juice

2 tb flaxseed

30g (~1oz) spinach

Nutrition: 450 cals, 68c,19f,7p

I will often do: one banana, half an orange + big handful of greens (I prefer kale but will also do spinach and chard) + water. Sometimes I add vega smoothie infusion. Mango is nice instead of the orange too.

I will also add berries but usually keep them to a minimum because they can turn your smoothie muddy.

The basic green smoothie recipe is as follows:

1 part water

1 part greens

1 part fruit

So it's really easy to experiment with what you have around the house until you've found recipes you like (warning: I've also made some nasty stuff this way). Romaine lettuce and spinach blend very well with spinach making everything thicker and romaine making it thinner, apples tend to make the smoothie foamy, and unless you have a really good blender (like a vitamix) everything should be at least roughly chopped, cored, and seeds ground up. I like freezing some bananas over the summer because they make the smoothies colder and even "smoothie-er". Collards and kale tend to be stringy (again, unless you have a killer blender) and are slightly more bitter than other greens so a little more fruit may be needed. As far as my experience serves, things like flax, protein powder, and vitimins can be added or subtracted as wanted. Here are some I like:

2 cups water

1 banana

1/2 inch or so fresh ginger

1/2-1 bosc pear

whatever amount of spinach

2 cups water

1 apple

1 banana

1/2 piece of ginger

Romaine or spinach

2 cups water

1 banana

1 cup blueberries (I prefer fresh)

spinach

Yeah, I like green smoothies.
