lobsteriffic
Haha Herc!!!! I certainly didn't mean to worry anyone! My husband was in town for a few days and then my parents came for a visit and now I have been working very long days to make up for some time off. I haven't been working out much but I have done a lot of walking and my knee is still screwy, waiting to get in to see a specialist. I think the marathon is scrapped for Oct. 31st. Which is actually for the best I think because I GROSSLY underestimated how stressful all of this moving stuff would be. Now trying to coordinate my move from here to California and my husband's move from home to California. We put in an application on an apartment - fingers crossed! I think right now I need to give my body a bit of a break, work out when I can, and plan for an early spring marathon. Not sure how much I will be around the forum the next couple of weeks...really, really really can't wait to be moved permanently and settled so life can get back to normal! MaryStella
Sorry to hear about the knee and all of the stress. there will always be marathons so no worries there! Good luck with the apartment.
lobsteriffic
Thanks! Yeah, there is a marathon in Napa Valley in early March I have my eye on...I've always wanted to go there!
vivalasvegans
lobster, sorry your knee is acting up. I think that's such a good plan of action though. Have you tried easy biking or swimming to see how that affects it? good luck on the apartment
lobsteriffic
Yay! We now have an apartment. Downtown San Jose. Oct 4th. So pumped. My pool membership ran out and I didn't renew it for September. I hate the pool here so much. I haven't had much time for cycling lately since I had so many visitors, but I plan on taking my bike out this weekend. I'm not going to do those crazy hills, figure I'll just spin along a relatively flat trail. Been stretching out my IT band a few times a day, things are starting to feel better. I'm curious about running on it but I think I had best leave it alone for awhile.
Jason X
Glad you're back and well! foam roll the hell outta your IT band.
lobsteriffic
Went to the gym to life yesterday after work...did a few sets of squats and ended up feeling really dizzy and light headed. Sat down for a bit, tried to do some benching, but still felt like garbage. Stretched out my IT band and used the foam roller and then came home. My diet lately has been crap. Need to work on that. Really, really can't wait to move and finally get a stable routine going again. Looking back, the times where I have done the best with diet and training is when I have a set routine. Oh well, only 3 more weeks! I can definitely hang in there for that long.

katz
haha, no, I was just doing a warm up set. And the room started spinning. You were remembering to breathe? A lot of times I see folks do a lift & hold their breath & don't even realize they are doing it.
lobsteriffic
that's true, i guess that is a natural tendency. but honestly I am 99.9% sure it was because I hadn't eaten properly that day.
katz
Just so it's not a recurring thing...BTW, you're not pregnant are you? My wife had a similar episode when she was something like 1 month along...
MaryStella
Congrats on the apartment. napa mary sounds kool! If I life heavy I get dizzy too. Hang in there you will be back to regular schedule soon!
lobsteriffic
Oh my gosh, thanks for everyone's concern, but it really was just because all I had that day was coffee and about 50 cals worth of candy. By that point it was the evening and I was running on empty. So I know it's my own darn fault.
lobsteriffic
And I must be doing something wrong because I usually DON'T feel like fainting after lifting a warm up set...but it seems like people are saying this is normal? Seriously, you guys go around fainting in the gym?? Guess I'm not hardcore.
MaryStella
It not normal after a warmup set but if I am doing near max loads I always feel dizzy for a bit between sets.
katz
I wouldn't call it normal. It does sound like maybe a dip in blood sugar level/low blood pressure. You mentioned that you weren't eating properly that day. I would probably chalk it up to that. If it would happen more than once, I may be inclined to check into it. I don't get dizzy when doing any of my lifts. warm-up or heavy.
vivalasvegans
sounds like a nutrition issue... or maybe the thing katz asked you about i keep a couple lollipops, a gel, and a larabar in m workout bag in case something like that happens to me, it usually takes care of it. Yeah, that. You haven't had any weird cravings have you? Ice cream & pickles, for example...
lobsteriffic
Haha, no, like I said, I am 99.9% sure it was because I hadn't eaten that day. Anyway, just posting to say that I am still alive. Just really stressed out trying to plan the move and deal with all of the b.s. that comes up with an international move. Especially when I'm not the one at home to be organizing things. Long stories. Anyway, I'm frazzled and getting kind of depressed/really lonely here. I enjoyed Ottawa for the first month or so, but now the isolation is setting in. I am sick of living out of a suitcase and just want to feel like I have a home again. Which I will, soon enough. Headed down to Cali on Oct 3rd. Due to visa issues husband won't be joining me until Oct 16th. It will have been almost 3 months that we've been living apart, which is really starting to wear me down. I've never done the long distance thing and I certainly don't like it. MaryStella
seriously try to get through it, it will be over soon. It's a tough situation but there isn't much you can do about it, so do what you can do and it will all get worked out.
