gangifilms
Gangi’s Fresh New Life Goals: Lean Muscle, Nothing Bulky just Lean Muscle, Healthy LifestyleTime Goal: By the age of 23, giving me 2 years.Job Ambitions: Film Director / Producer, Actor and ModelAge: 21Height: 5’10 Weight: 195Bodyfat %: Assuming 25-30% not surprised if higher. ========Introduction======== Hello, So I will start by telling you about my journey, At the age of 18 I weighed about 230 pounds in 2008 and dropped the weight with a great amount of dedication and knowledge to get down to 180 pounds by the end of 2009 with intense training. My food routine consisted of Oatmeal, Green Tea, Chicken (wasn’t vegan), Vegetables and Fruits. Later I would find out I am a allergic to Oats and Green Tea which caused my Acne. However High School was a very stressful time for me and my weight always kept jumping up and down constantly from a lack of full concentration on my well being. I found myself using energy drinks (bad!) as my main source of energy to get through these tough times due to a lack of sleep. In 2009 I went to film school where my routine of living took a nose dive, the school was a boot camp with very little time to prepare any decent food or get any sleep. I knew better than this but abused my body further with Hot Pockets, Instant T.V Dinners, Fast Food and more Energy Drinks / Pulling all nighters editing film material for class to get the job done and put my body on the back burner. Side topic: Filmaking is one of the most demanding professions, especially for Cinematographers, Grips, Gaffers because of all the equipment they must carry around. So having strength and a healthy life style is a must for this profession.Back on topic: I started to get ulcers and my stomach felt like it had knives inside of it. So enough was enough eventually in 2010 when in April I finished school and decided to detox my body the best I could. I got a colonic to drain my system out and started eating normal again like when I was back in 2008. Work has been tough and time for my body has been thin. So now my filmaking has gotten intense once again, It’s 2011, I am at around 195 pounds and 21 years old. I need to start taking care of my body and make a full commitment to cleanse my body for a more efficient life style which will increase my work load and make me feel good. I am dedicated to keeping my routine for the rest of my life and will surround myself with individuals who share this interest.I need help composing a food schedule, 6 small meals a day to boost my metabolism. My routine must fit around food I am not allergic to according to my ALCAT blood test. In terms of my reaction, mainly fatigue and acne. Yes there are quite a bit of foods I need to avoid… Foods I am allergic to broken down into categories: Nuts/Beans: Almonds, Cashew, Brazil Nuts, Peanuts, Soybeans (Soy, Tofu), Coffee Beans Grains: Anise Seed, Cottonseed, Spelt, Oats (Oatmeal), Barley, Caraway Vegetables/Greens: Iceberg Lettuce, Kale, Bay Leaf, Basil, Barley, Asparagus, Celery, Turnip, Mushrooms, Olives (Black Olives, Olive Oil), Parsnip, Cucumber Fruit: Banana, Coconut, Kiwi, Pear, Pomegranates, Cherry Seafood: Scallop, Lobster, Trout, Catfish, Codfish, Crayfish, Anchovy, Clam, Halibut Meats: Beef, Venison, Veal, Duck Dairy: Egg Yolks, Egg Whites (No Whey or Cassein), Cow’s Milk, Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Goat’s Milk, Sheep’s Milk Sugar: Fructose, Honey, Cane Sugar Spices/Misc: Black or Green Tea, Saffron, Clove, Nutmeg (Severe Allergy) So after looking at that, is it even possible to maintain a healthy vegan lifestyle? Having Soy eliminated is a huge blow, no tofu, clif bars, or any bars for that matter. Also not having any meat or protein substitute might hurt me. Possibly I might consider being a vegetarian with just Salmon and Chicken. My Green Shake consists of Spinach, Apple, Orange Juice 4OZ, Lemon Juice, A clove of Garlic, 1 inch of Ginger Root, Raw Protein Powder, Green Vibrance Probiotic =================My Proposed Eating Routine:================= 7:00AM: Morning workout, 30 Minute of Cardio.8:00AM: Food prepared, Bowl of Grapes, Apple, Green Shake with Protein11:00AM: Handful of Walnuts. 8oz.1:00PM: Broccoli and Salmon or Chicken.4:00PM: Bowl of Quinoa with White Tea5:00PM: Workout Routine for that given Day.6:00PM: Finish Green Shake with Protein, Have the rest of the Salmon or Chicken cooked earlier.9:00PM: Handful of Walnuts. Veganarchy
Hi, Gangi! Veganarchy here to give you some feedback on your proposal. If you are going for a lean look, you might want to watch it on the nuts. They are admittedly good source of protein, but their fat content is also high. I also notice you are taking supplements like flaxseed and fish oil. It might take you longer to achieve the look you desire if you continue to consume high amounts of fat, no matter how good for you they might be. I don't see your soy allergy as being such a downfall; mock-meats with soy products are not necessarily the best for our bodies (some made with unidentifiable ingredients and preservatives), and bars with soy protein isolate are also not as optimal as whole foods. Although, I do see that you are eating salmon and chicken. Getting enough protein for your muscles to grow shouldn't be a problem. My case is not as extreme as yours is (I have been moderately healthy my entire life), but I do have similar goals as you. I am also looking to find peers who are health-conscious and are dedicated to respecting our bodies by eating right and exercising frequently. I look forward to keeping up with your progress! gangifilms
Just an update for the past two days... 1/25/10 Been busy with film meetings, I got my cardio in, I am feeling good eating lot's of fruit like grapes, oranges, apples. Haven't had any energy drinks, running good on natural solutions. Did my cardio and did not work on any muscle group. 1/26/10 Pretty much the same as Tuesday up there, I just need to start getting in my routine with muscle training. My computer hard drive has been down, but I am restoring the files so I can get some pictures up tonight.
vegimator
You could make your own bars. Buy some rice, hemp, and/or pea protein and blend it with a nut you can eat and a sweetener you can eat. Best of luck!
Lean and Green
You're dedication is admirable You're story is compelling and one i'm looking forward to following I'd bet anything that you will only continue to get more fit because you're keeping consistent and that's the key I noticed your weren't allergic to wheat. Seitan (wheat gluten) is an excellent replacement for a meat product. I'd dare take the position that meat is not necessary even with the food allergies you describe. There are always plenty of options to sustain, no thrive with a healthy vegan lifestyle

VeganResistance
I had a big chat with my Dr a couple weeks back about allergy tests. He said there are often a lot of false positives with blanket tests. Just something to keep in mind. I guess cut it all out and then try one off the list at a time, if you're interested in eating them anyhow. I'd suggest reading The Optimum Nutrition Bible by Patrick Holford for more of an insight on what to eat. And I hardly eat anything off your list there. lentils, Rice, Chickpeas, fresh veges, seeds (get into some pumpkin and sunflower seeds, oh and whole tahini!) Get rid of the meat, you don't need it. You need a range of essential amino acids, easily got from eating a range of whole foods, for your body to get enough protein.
gangifilms
Sounds good Vegan Resistance, Yes that might be true, however I have tried all the foods I am allergic to, most will give me fatigue, acne, and constipation. But anyways, I am composing a diet around the foods you suggested, the book is getting mixed reviews on Amazon.com This weekend was pretty good, did my cardio as always and started to lift my weights, eating good tho!!!
