So what music is everyone listening to?

Recommended Posts

I wanna know what music motivates you in your everyday lives? Be it what blasts from your stereo while you lift weights or the songs on your mp3 player that you listen to while you run. How about what you listen to as you relax reading a book? My list of musicians is made up of many genres of music that arent just bands that I think sound good. The sound, their ideals and the musicianship all play a part in my everyday life no matter what I am doing. To me music is more important than anything. Below are ten musicians who make music that I am completely in love with.

1.)Falkenstein- Neofolk music from Germany

2.)Kroda- Heathen Folk tinged Black Metal from Ukraine

3.)Krynitza- Neofolk music from Russia

4.)Frank Rennicke- Neo Folk from Germany

5.)Branikald- NSBM from Russia

6.)Richard Wagner- Classical composer who bases his scores from Norse Sagas

7.)Hate Forest- NSBM from Ukraine

8.)Burzum- Black Metal from Norway

9.)Bathory- Pagan Metal from Sweden

10.)Temnozor- Pagan Folk metal from Russia

that was difficult and actually there are many bands who I love the same as these ten. We'll just call this a list of recommendations. Where's yours?

@Fallen_Horse I never got into any of the Modest Mouse albums but that Ugly Casanova record is pretty awesome

I like many different kinds of music and dislike many bands that are similar to some of my favorites. Some things I like are actually just bad also and not sure why I like it

Anti-Flag

The Beatles

Beirut

Bill Withers

Desaparecidos

Inspectah Deck

John Coltrane

The Mars Volta

Mos Def

Operation Ivy

Propagandhi

Rancid

Raphael Saadiq

Reflections Eternal

The Roots

Stephen Marley

Strike Anywhere

Wu-Tang Clan

That's really not even enough to get an idea of what I like but I'd be here all day if I didn't stop somewhere.

I think that when someone says that they love all music it means they love only popular music. I like a lot of music styles but much of the things I listen to are sub genres of other genres. I can guarantee that anyone who says that they love all music would not like the music I like. My tastes cover a wide variety of heathen folk and neo folk music. I like Black metal meaning that I like an assortment of genres of Black metal. I like Classical music and when I say classical music...I mean that I like the classical music that is triumphant. I like folk metal, and pagan metal along with an assortment of other genres of metal music.

I know this is an old thread & I don't post here much, but I can't let this go unchallenged. To the OP: your fascist bullsh*t has no place in the vegan community, please keep your politics to yourself or better yet go away.

For anyone wondering about 'NSBM', it's national socialist black metal, an overtly hateful Nazi movement.

Sinatra, any "Rat Pack" music, Nora Jones, Sarah McLachlan, for relaxing. I have gotten really fond of classical for lifting (amazing focus). And for cardio pretty much any pop/rock music on the charts will get me through, although more for the beat then anything else, lol

I try to limit my consumption of other people's music these days, as I tend to fall in love with certain projects and find myself emulating in my own creative process. Any Artist (I cringe a little every time I use that term self-referentially) who puts blood and sweat into their Art knows the importance of thinking outside of cliche', and the familar.

Anyway, here are some of my all-timers:

Tool (Just embrass everybody, really...so much talent it makes me ashamed to even write music)

Mars Volta

GSYBE

VAST

The libertines

worlds end girlfriend

Live ( secret samadhi only)

Fantomas, Lovage, anything Mike patton touches ( probably with a plastic tentacle)

Virtually all blues Artists ( boz scagg, muddy waters, skip james)

Something For kate

explosions in the sky

Slayerrrrrrr

Tori amos

Coldplay (parachutes only)

Led Zeppelin (only for jimmy page, plant ruins a good thing IMO)

The dresden dolls

Kate bush

Pantera

anti-nowhere league

Black flag

Mogwai

Mazzy star ( yeah I did it)

Russian Circles

Queens of the stoneage ( sometimes)

Radiohead

Smoky/ miracles

Portishead

Massive attack

Melt banana

The melvins

soundgarden

And more that deserve to be there, who at the minute elude me.
